"I really don’t like to leave poor reviews, but I still feel it’s important to try to be objective. The wait staff were aloof and not very attentive. We had three different waitresses. The last one was most friendly. Our soup and salad were served with the main dish. The soup of the day was flavorful and fresh. The dinner salad was $10 and was minimal. The pepperoni pizza was drive-in theatre quality. See photos. The dough was grease soaked and included mostly very thick layer of cheese. Definitely quantity over quality. Perhaps it was just an off day, but there were many staff, with only a few tables occupied. Nice setting, but the experience was less than mediocre. Even the mediocre food would be acceptable, but the staff seemed Distant and unwelcoming."
"Rooms were clean and organized, easily accessible. Only downside is that the lighting was dimmer than typical hotel rooms. Front desk staff are friendly and appear to love their job because they give you a smirk when discussing the "secret specialties" of this McMenamins. Loved this McMenamins experience!"
"My parents wanted to take me here for lunch for my birthday and made reservations over a week ago for a window booth seat. When we arrived, the hostess took 4 people who came in after we did and we were sat in the far corner at a table, not a booth like requested. The place was filthy, the cushions on the booth side was stained and I am pretty sure our waitress was sick and was not attentive at all. Food is very overpriced pub food and my burger was overcooked. The fish and chips my mom ordered were terrible and my boyfriend's tuna sandwich was supposed to be grilled but came out barely toasted. The Cajun style tots lacked seasoning and tasted like normal tots. We were all very disappointed to say the least and will plan future celebrations at the waterfront in Vancouver where you can spend the same amount of money at the Willamette Valley Winery for high quality food, wine, service, a clean restaurant and beautiful views."
"Took my husband for an overnight for his birthday, so disappointing!! The location and views are great, but that was the best thing about the stay. Very overpriced pub food, drinks were average. Had to be on a wait list for seating, then watched 4 couples get seated and served before us. My $20 burger was overdone, paid extra to sub a salad, which was small and mostly pickled onions. Room was decent size, but had disabled shower/bathroom, so couldn't use the shower. Bed was one of the worst I've even slept on, very hard. The giant 2 ft. cobweb hanging off the wall greeted us in the morning. Couldn't leave fast enough."
"Beautiful building, picturesque location 30 feet from the banks of the mighty Columbia. All the unique and desirable features you would expect from a McMenamins location, with a full bathroom in each room! Three very nice bar/restaurant locations in the building with 2 more within walking distance. Be sure to visit the rooftop bar and enjoy a view of seafaring traffic (which is visible from all bar locations)."
