About the Business
Yahara House is a community-based health institution located at 802 East Gorham Street in Madison, Wisconsin. Our mission is to empower individuals living with mental illness by providing a supportive environment that fosters hope, dignity, and community. At Yahara House, members work together to achieve educational and employment goals, develop self-esteem and coping strategies, and live with respect and independence in the larger community.
Our evidence-based program focuses on recovery through social connection, meaningful activities, and reintroduction to community employment. We are open 40 hours a week, including holidays, and offer evening and weekend social activities for our members. Yahara House provides a stigma-free environment where adults with mental illness can feel a sense of belonging.
We believe in the rights of each individual to have a place to come, meaningful work, meaningful relationships, and a place to return. In case of emergencies, please contact Journey Mental Health Center's 24/7 Local Crisis Hotline at 608-280-2600.
