Reviews
"Super unhelpful. Gave me meds that made me so sleepy I crashed my car, refused to consider I had ADHD because I had good grades, and then proceeded to not help me at all during a mental health crises. Never go here."
"I have waited almost a year to write this review in hopes that I would not write in anything in spite. I truly would give her zero stars if possible. She does not listen at all, she does not care about her patients, and only pushes her own issues on those that seek care from her. She projects her insecurities and own mental health issues on individuals. She has no empathy, sympathy, or any general care at all for anyone but herself. Like I mentioned, that she doesn't listen, someone will say something and then be cut off only to listen to a 10-15 tirade on her own experience with the issue. She does not care at all about the path that patient wants to take, or even listen to past experiences with medications that went horribly wrong - "there are similar ones and it can be different." She openly mocks the amazing treatment received by other care providers and is completely in the wrong field of work. She is sociopathic narcissist that only cares about herself with no regards to the hurtful things she says (her staff say she is blunt - not true, she just truly doesn't care). If you want to be traumatized and relive any previous life experiences you have had or are going through, by all means set an appointment with her. But if you care for yourself, or your child (whom she should NEVER see), then avoid her at all costs."
"I was 19 years old, with many undiagnosed issues, and unfourtunately went to Ms. Amato when I was severely depressed and needed someone to talk to about trauma. She was my first therapist, aside from brief encounters during custody stuff when I was young. She not only did not help me with anything, but also made my life considerably worse. She never spoke with me about my problems, and if we did, she often would be very dismissive and rude to me during brief discussions about sensitive topics, etc. She also prescribed me with benzodiazepines, started me on a journey with those lovely pills very casually -- which nearly took my life 5 years later. She gave me no help, pushed pills on me, making my situation much worse, and I think she's in the wrong profession -- her apathy is dangerous."
"Uncaring drug pusher. Doesn't have time to talk to patients except to talk about the drugs they are on and the drugs she wants to put you on. Gave antipsychotics without discussing diagnosis with the patient and claimed there are NO side effects even though there are many possible side effects and one of the less common ones being tardive dyskinesia which could be permanent. Asks patients to buy drugs directly from her instead of pharmacy and claims generics aren't the same. Claimed that someone in their late 30s could not possibly have ADHD since they have not been diagnosed previously. Even though this person came from poverty in rural Mexico and did not have access to decent healthcare, much less mental healthcare. Came across as very ignorant and sarcastic, scoffed at what I wrote in the intake paperwork. Horrible, horrible psychiatrist who profits from kickbacks from the drug companies, profited $15k in one year for overprescribing Adderall."
"I really loved, trusted, felt comfortable with Dr Amato but when I tried to set up an appointment with her they refused because I have Medicare even though I previously had it and paid cash (which I have no problem doing again) and I hadn't seen her in a few years. I don't want to see anyone else because she is the only person that ever understood me,that I've trusted, and had actually helped. I wish I could speak with her but her office staff told me that it would not matter because I would be considered a new patient (because its been a while since ive seen her)and they won't see me because of my insurance. They wouldn't even refer me to anyone else. I'm very disappointed and I feel helpless. They should understand mental illness and alot of times special circumstances should be considered."
