"Great facility with very caring staff. Absolutely the place to bring your exotic pet. Are three legged tortoise got a great exam, and we look forward to having a prosthetic attached to the underside of his shell. Absolutely a five star facility. Keep up the good work!"
"The folks at UC Davis went above and beyond what we have ever experienced!! 10 stars!! We had a dog come in through our rescue who needed a TECA (double ear ablation surgery) this is a very major surgery, and requires specialists. We got into Davis, we met with the wonderful Doctor Kyla Walter (DMV) and her staff. The thoroughness, care, compassion and attention to detail they had when taking on Cletus's case was just outstanding. He had other stuff come up (skin issues, infection due to bacteria that had been growing in his ear prior to surgery) they handled it so incredibly well. We got updates twice a day, and he was so well taken care of. We have gone so numerous specialists in the Bay Area, and UC Davis not only provided stellar care, but they were honestly more affordable than any other place we got quoted. I cannot recommend them enough!! This has been a long journey for this dog and we couldn't have had a better group of experts to help him. THANK YOU DOCTOR WALTER and UC Davis!!!! We appreciate you all so much."
"Compassionate and thorough care, both in the small-animal clinic and in ER end-of-life services. I highly recommend, and I believe that UCD veterinary is rated #1 in the world. I feel privileged to be able to bring our pets here."
"The vet residents and students here are AMAZING!! They are knowledgeable and kind and compassionate. Saved my Charlie cat’s life and I wish I had brought him here to begin with when the urinary obstruction started - instead of going to vca first and then getting transferred to ucd for surgery. Now I know not to take my animal-family anywhere other than UCD. I got daily calls from the vet students and residents. I will forever be in your debt for helping relieve Charlie’s pain!"
"As a professional in the pet industry for over 15 years, and as someone who has had cats and dogs my entire life…I’ve easily been to dozens of veterinary, emergency and specialty hospitals. I have seen and been through it all when it comes to veterinary care. I don’t know why it took me so many decades to ever step foot inside of UC Davis veterinary hospital living only 60mi away, but I always assumed that being such a prestigious vet hospital the care, experience and reputation would come with an exorbitant price tag. I received a referral to the orthopedic department when my dogs surgery at a local clinic failed, and the cost of revision at a nearby specialty hospital was $8,000 more than what they told me UC Davis would charge for the same service. I was skeptical, but the orthopedic specialist reassured me that he learned everything he knew at UC Davis and that my Leroy would be in excellent hands. And that he was. I dropped Leroy off for pre op diagnostics and he stayed for several days after his complex revision surgery. He healed beautifully, the staff loved him, and despite going through quite the traumatic ordeal he was so comfortable and cared for. The doctors went above and beyond in communication explaining their plans, surgical findings, and recommendations during and after his operation. The cost of his revision surgery was less than half of what I was quoted by the local specialty clinic as UCD has a free contract for a specialized bone treatment that expedites healing that costs thousands of dollars elsewhere. In follow up imaging they were able to avoid anesthesia/sedation which saved me time, money, and unnecessary stress for my dog. Since then, I have been to UC Davis for an emergency visit for a clients dog, where I waited 1/4 of the time of all the local Bay Area emergency hospitals and left with a bill under $350 (quite unheard of for any Bay Area emergency hospital) and a very happy, healthy dog and in turn a very relieved client pet owner. I recently went in for a neurology consultation which resulted in a euthanasia and elected necropsy, free of charge…where they will use his case for the advancement of their veterinary teaching program and research before releasing his body for private cremation. Saying good bye to your beloved pet is always such a heartbreaking and difficult time, and I didn’t think that doing so in a sterile hospital would be such a beautiful and peaceful experience but our neurologists allowed us to leave to take our dog to the park and In N Out one last time…and when we returned they had prepared soft blankets, bedding, a box of Kleenex, and even a fancy chocolate truffle along side the laughter, sympathy and kindness that brought so much comfort to my husband, dog and I in our final moments together. They were so accommodating, answered all of our questions, frequently checking in, offering to move us into a quieter more private room, and allowing us all the time we needed but also not keeping us waiting. The level of care and expertise of UC Davis animal hospital is unparalleled. I am so grateful for my variety of experiences there, for the access to affordable veterinary care, for all that they do for the pet community and advancement in veterinary research. It may be an extra hour or two drive from the Bay Area but they will save you so much time, money and heart ache in properly diagnosing and treating your animal with compassion and professionalism at a fraction of the price. Thank you, UC Davis, for all that you do. I have never laughed, cried and felt so comforted in moments that otherwise would be so stressful and devastating. While I hope to never have to return, each time I do I am confident my pets will receive the best possible care."
