"Dr. Lommer and the staff at Aggie's Animal Dental Center are the best! There are not many board-certified veterinary dentists in the Bay Area (literally a handful) and we were so lucky to have gotten an appointment here. Our 13-year-old Pomeranian, Coco, has been to so many vet clinics in our attempt to find her high-quality specialized care. She has several health issues, including a collapsed trachea, heart murmur, and elevated liver enzymes, on top of severe periodontal disease. She had a previous anesthetic cleaning before so we initially thought she could get her teeth cleaned at a regular clinic again. This unfortunately turned into a huge fiasco after a different vet could not intubate and even thought she had a throat tumor. Even though the tumor was ruled out, we were extremely hesitant to take her back to a primary clinic and started seeking out specialty dentists. The first specialty dentist we took her to quoted us nearly $10k and full mouth extractions, which we were understandably not thrilled about. This clinic ended up referring us to yet another clinic due to scheduling conflicts, with their first consult being 3 months out. Meanwhile, Coco's teeth were worsening and causing her to cough a lot - we felt TERRIBLE that she was in pain and we couldn't do anything to give her relief sooner. After frantically researching, I found Aggie's and miraculously they were able to squeeze Coco in for a consult that same week. This was the first indication that we had found somewhere special - Aggie's truly cares for animals and will go the extra mile to make sure your pet is seen and taken care of. Dr. Lommer was attentive, transparent, and compassionate during the consult and answered all of our many questions with expertise. It is evident that she is the best in her field and we appreciated the effort she put into studying Coco's medical records from half a dozen other vet clinics to truly understand Coco's health. As a parent of an elderly dog, I get very anxious leaving Coco for any reason, let alone for a major surgery. We walked out of the consult feeling reassured that Coco would be in good hands. Dr. Lommer also prescribed antibiotics in the meantime to keep Coco's tooth infection at bay, which we were so thankful for (other clinics had told us there was nothing they could do). The cherry on top was that Aggie's estimate was significantly lower than the other dental clinic and they also accepted Coco's previous labwork instead of requiring a recheck. We dropped Coco off in the morning on the day of the procedure and Dr. Lommer made sure to give us updates every step of the way (when Coco was put under anesthesia, when x-rays were taken and if there were any changes, how the procedure was going, and finally when Coco was waking up). Even though Coco needed 13 extractions, had some complicated root fractures, and was under anesthesia for much longer than anticipated, we felt at ease with Dr. Lommer's consistent updates, knowing also that there would be a board-certified anesthesiologist on staff to help monitor the procedure. We are so grateful to everyone at Aggie's for taking such good care of her! The 5-star service doesn't stop after the appointment - Dr. Lommer provided detailed medical notes to help us get the most out of our insurance claim. Coco is already making a quick recovery at home and we can finally rest assured that her teeth won't bother her anymore and we will have many more years with her. We highly recommend Aggie's to any pet parents seeking quality specialized oral surgery and/or dentistry needs. We have been through so many health scares with Coco that the higher price is completely worth the peace of mind to know that our fur baby is in the best hands. Dr. Lommer, we cannot thank you and your team enough for what you do! You guys truly are heroes and even though we hope we never have to see you again, we are forever grateful that Coco had such amazing care at Aggie's!!"
"We are so thankful that we could see Dr. Lommer and her team at Aggie Animal Dental Center. Dr. Lommer is a fantastic doctor! Our Boston Terrier was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous tumor that needed immediate attention and ultimately required the removal of both sides of his lower jaw (double mandibulectomy). Dr. Lommer knew how difficult this was for us and was so kind and responsive. Dr. Lommer was very patient with us and answered our many questions, as we were very scared about what this would mean for Mumford and quality of life after the surgery. She gave us all the information we needed to make a tough decision. On Dr. Lommer's recommendation, we chose the more aggressive surgery route to ensure we got all cancerous cells out on the first go. We are so glad that we did and knew that was the right decision despite how scary the situation was. We are happy to report that Mumford is doing great now. He was back to his usual self in no time, and his quality of life is still excellent. He's able to eat, drink, and play without issue. We can't thank Dr. Lommer and her team enough for saving Mumford and giving him more time with us!"
"For the last several years we took our dogs and cat only to Aggie Dental! We couldn't be happier with the service we received! Dr. Lommer was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, taking the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions. She always gentle and patient with my pets (and me hahah), making sure we all felt comfortable and at ease throughout the entire visit. The office always very clean and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Aggie Dental and Dr. Milinda Lommer to anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate pet dentist. Five stars all around!"
"I have never written a Google review before but felt absolutely compelled to do so hoping that others who might be in similar situations as I was with my dog could have the support they need. Dr. Lommer, Dr. May and the entire team at Aggie Animal Dental Center are exceptional and have provided my dog, Sasha, with care that has extended and improved the quality of her life. They are professional, considerate, compassionate and have a deep respect and care for all of the animals in their care. I came to know them due to surgery that was needed to address a fast growing oral melanoma tumor that appeared on my dog's lower jaw only 3-4 weeks prior. For our dog, timing was everything, given the rate of growth, and we quickly needed a course of action. To be honest, this was a month filled with a lot of fear, worry and the pressure to ensure we could get our dog the best care in a very short window of time. Surgery was suggested as the most aggressive option for treatment of an oral melanoma tumor and when test results came back indicating that there were no signs of the spread of cancer to other areas (indicating that it may likely be localized), we immediately decided to pursue surgery. My primary vet had highly recommended Dr. Lommer and her team and they were not only able to meet us for a surgical consult on them same day we called, they indicated they could likely do our dog's surgery within days of our consult. Their quick and caring response provided a sense of hope and relief that we had not felt since receiving the initial diagnosis. We were thrilled, even though we knew that this was major surgery and that our dog would likely lose a good portion of her lower jaw in order to fully remove the tumor. Dr. Lommer and Dr. May met us and got to meet Sasha and- based on their consult and her test results- determined that surgery was possible. They took the time to talk with us about our worries and questions and discussed what we could expect after surgery, including how Sasha may be impacted by the removal of part of her jaw and the process of training her jaw to stay aligned through the use of bands (like doggie braces!). They were able to share the stories of other dogs who had gone through similar procedures and how it impacted (or didn't!) the dog's ability to engage in their favorite activities. Most importantly, they conveyed their sense of hope and realistic optimism that this surgery would likely make a significant difference in addressing the cancer. We went forward with Sasha's surgery and throughout the day (which was very nerve-racking for us) we received regular texts and updates from Bridgit and the tech team, who were all amazing! We could feel how much they already cared for Sasha and how considerate they were of what we might be going through as we waited. We are happy to share that Sasha's surgery was a huge success. While those first hours after bringing her home were tough for us (not for Sasha, who was mostly asleep after being a trooper and getting through a major surgery), Sasha quickly showed us within the first 12 hours that she was her usual self, even if she had to start figuring out how to eat and drink a little differently with her new jaw configuration. Dr. Lommer and her team were always available and highly responsive to any and all questions in the days following surgery and called regularly to check on her. And best of all, Sasha's biopsy from the surgery came back indicating no spread of cancer in her jaw- she is all clear! It has been less than 2 weeks since her surgery and Sasha continues to amaze us every day. The resilience and adaptability of animals is truly an incredible thing to witness. Sasha has figured out how to eat and drink without issue, she is playing with her plush toys, her energy is completely back (and then some!) and she is as sassy as ever. I cannot recommend Aggie Animal Dental Center enough. I wish there was a way to give more than 5-stars! Thank you, Aggie team!!"
"I truly don't know what we would have done without Dr. Lommer and her wonderful staff at Aggie Dental. I believe she is one of those people sent from above to help every animal in need and that is exactly what she does. Our almost 15-year-old pup Besitos, aka Besi, fell ill on Sunday, October 9. She woke up from a nap and we saw blood everywhere. As any pet parents would, we rushed her to our local ER. There they told us there wasn't much they could do, the blood seemed to be coming from her nose and we would need to get a CT scan to rule out a tumor. They also mentioned Besi had severe periodontal disease and we should see a dental specialist. They sent us home with a Chinese herbal medication "Yunnan Baiyao" that would help stop the bleeding temporarily until we figured out our next move. The next day, we saw blood again but this time coming from her TEETH. We called the ER vet back, but their Dental specialist was booked out until Jan 2023. They gave us 4 other specialists to call, one being Aggie. We contacted Aggie and to our surprise, they had an opening, we got lucky as someone canceled - so we took the appt. We went yesterday and had our consultation with Dr. Lommer. We knew Besi's teeth were Terrible, but we were told by other Vet(s) putting Besi under wasn't recommended after she was diagnosed with early-stage kidney disease in Dec. 2020. Besi's last cleaning/extraction was in 2019. When I tell you the condition of our poor baby's teeth was SO bad, I could barely look at the photos they had just taken in front of us. Dr. Lommer went over everything with us, pros, cons, good, bad, other patients' stories, answered all our questions, etc. She was so calm, compassionate, and understanding. She wasn't forcing us to do anything, but we knew leaving Besi's teeth the way they were would cause her more harm than good. We had to make the toughest decision and go with anesthesia to get the CT scan done and figure out a game plan. Dr. Lommer told us they would give Besi IV for a few hours to make sure her kidneys were protected but not too much as they also had to be careful her red blood cell count didn't drop because she was now anemic (due to blood loss from her gums). We gave 100% of our TRUST to Dr. Lommer and her staff. When we got the call there was no tumor we were so THRILLED, however - the severity of her gum disease was worse than we thought. She needed 11 teeth extracted; she would undergo another 1.5 - 2 hour surgery. As nervous as we were, we gave Dr. Lommer the green light and just prayed everything would be ok. And sure enough around 3 pm we got the call Besi was out of surgery, it was successful!! YAY! Throughout the entire process, we were informed via text with updates, phone calls, and even a cute photo of Besi while they prepped her with IV. They all took such great care of her. Besi's bounce back was also remarkable. Only a short hour after coming home, she was on her feet trying to run (lol), she ate her small dinner, we gave her all her medication as directed by the clinic and she had very minimal post-op bleeding from her nose/mouth. I wish I knew Dr. Lommer sooner, I'm sad my baby (throughout the years) now only has 7 teeth left, but we are so hopeful Besi has a healthy future ahead of her. She is doing great today, back to her normal self. Thank you again Dr. Lommer, we will forever be grateful for your wisdom, knowledge, and most importantly kind heart. Love, Besi, and her Pawrents!"
