Reviews of Door Creek Apartments
"9.9/10!!!! Great location, quiet, only 10 minutes from East Towne Mall, friendly neighbors, lawn care is done weekly, management replies quickly, maintenance reacts quickly to items that need to be fixed, and plenty of parking. Only complaint would be the tight space in the parking garage, but it’s not impossible… just tight."
"We lived at Door Creek Apts for 7 1/2 years. In that time, the apt. complex went through several management changes, but the last one is the best. Alison Klongland was always very responsive and professional. Our maintenance requests were always taken care of in a timely manner. The grounds are very nice and kept up very well. Although our apartment was on the first floor right by the elevator, we rarely heard any noise coming from the hallway or other apartments. We loved living there and only decided to leave because we bought a house outside of Madison. When we broke our lease, they were very fair with us."
"This May, I'll be starting my lease here for the 3rd year and really am very comfortable and happy here!! The management answers my emails right away, the complex is very well-maintained and they worked with me when I had to end my lease a month early. I would highly recommend Door Creek Apts.. It's rent is comparable with other nice complexes and the security deposit isn't a whole months rent..which really helps. My dog loves it too!"
"I currently live at these apartments with my fiancé and sister along with our dog (black lab) and cat in a 2 bed room 2 bathroom. We love our apartment. They put in new stainless steel kitchen appliances and new kitchen and bathroom flooring before we moved in. We get SO many complements on the flooring. We have a corner unit which looks over some of the back grassland behind the complex. It's very spacious, but lacks some serious closet storage. But you get a large storage unit in the garage. We requested two garage spots and actually got them with an extra charge of course, but it is worth it as the parking lot does get full sometimes. The fitness center is nice, but very tight. The equipment is in good condition. The grounds are beautiful, but there are a lot of dogs. Seems like everyone has a dog here which is great if you are a dog lover. Our apartment is sound proof as we never hear neighbors above or below us. The hallways not so sound proof. There is a barking dog down the hall from us, we only hear it when our front door is open. Packages are delivered to the front office and only delivered to your door on Fridays unless you email or call to get them earlier. Management and staff are great. Prompt in replying to any emails or maintenance request. The area feels quite safe and tranquil. All in all it's a good deal for the price, square footage and area. I would definitely recommend these apartments to anyone with a dog. *side note: Felicia Durni's review was given when the old property manager was here and in my experience the old property manager wasn't so great. But the new manager, Amanda is wonderful."
"I would absolutely recommend that you do NOT rent from this company. We lived at these apartments for nearly two years, and had bad experience after bad experience. Immediately after we moved in, I contacted the management company about a loud noise that was inside of our bedroom wall; it sounded like a loud banging, and generally happened all through the night. The noise was not as noticeable during the day. The management company came to inspect the noise during the day, and wrote it off as normal settling of the building. After a few months of sleepless nights, I wrote an email to the executives of the company, begging for them to do something about the noise so that we could sleep. In the following days, the management company came in the evening to listen for the noise, and agreed that it was very loud. They then crawled in the attic and put a hole in our bedroom wall. After another week or two, the noise was resolved. The apartments were sold to a "new" management company during our stay. The resident website was changed, and automatic payments had to be re-setup. There is not much information available about this company, and the company seemingly employs all of the same people that the "old" company did. There is something very odd about this situation. The trails around the apartment are nice for walking, but are covered with ticks in the summer. The ponds are not swim-able; you may be able to fish in them, but we never tried. There are often ambulances and police cars at the apartment buildings. Packages are usually delivered to the office, which is generally inconvenient; their office hours do not make it easy to pick up packages. The underground garage is very small; it can be pretty difficult to maneuver in and out, especially when there are large vehicles behind or around your space. The person behind us liked to park their motorcycle behind their jeep, which took up a lot of room and made it difficult to get out. Last December, I contacted the apartment manager to let them know that we would be moving out of our apartment because we bought a house. The manager offered me two options to end the lease as of the end of the following month (January): pay a $250 lease-break fee and monthly rent until they were able to re-rent the apartment, or pay a $250 lease-break fee and another $1800. We could not end the lease as of December, because they required a 30-day notice. Our lease was supposed to end as of April 30, so it didn't make sense to us to pay rent for January ($1,315), then almost $2,000 to end the lease. Instead, we opted to pay rent until the apartment manager could re-rent the apartment. The apartment manager I was working with then refused to show our apartment until we paid the $250 fee and handed over our keys to the apartment. I did not agree that we should have to hand in our keys while still under the terms of the lease (this is actually illegal). Finally, after months of back and forth emails, a different apartment manager agreed to begin showing our apartment (in February). The apartment manager also agreed to end our lease as of February 28, rather than April 30, because of the problems we experienced dealing with the other apartment manager. Finally, I thought that I would be done with this management company; however, in February, the company did not automatically withdraw our rent, and can provide no explanation as to the reason the payment was not automatically withdrawn. This "new" management company is not registered with the BBB, making it nearly impossible to file a complaint against them. I asked on multiple occasions for the name that the company is listed under with the BBB, but have yet to receive a response to this question. Given the choice, I absolutely would not rent from this company again in the future."
