"This place WAS lovely, I lived there for years before JD McCormick bought it. Don't listen to their canned response to the other recent review, they made NO EFFORT to get resident feedback or communicate on their "beautification" (what a joke) and continued chopping down all the beautiful trees and painting everything this hideous grey color (and leaving paint chips/dust behind in the hallway for months while they were at it). Management is terrible AND rude, they raise rent by >$100/year, and they made the subletting process as hard as possible. I could deal with the outdated building, water damaged hallways, walls that leaked when it rained, constant emergency water shutoffs with black sediment coming out of the pipes afterwards, stinky laundry rooms, thin walls, terrible internet (only one option that is ANCIENT), the ancient pipe that burst in our ceiling, unresponsive management etc when the rent was reasonable, but this new company swooped in and jacked up the rent because they're bEauTiFyInG it (ha). Do yourself a favor and rent from literally any other company, this place is a total lemon with an awful management company."
"I used to enjoy living here. Then a new management company came in, raised the rent 11% during a global pandemic (with no improvements to the units), and has started chopping down all of the trees. They do not communicate, give misinformation about leases and possible upgraded apartments, and have proven to care little for the tenants who live here and why they chose to make this place their home. I lived there for two years and they have destroyed any trust tenants used to have. There is no communication, no compassion, no care. Avoid living here if you want a landlord/apartment complex that cares about the well being of it's tenants."
"I only resided here for 5 months before subletting in order to move out of state, but the entire experience related to living at Les Chateaux has been wonderful. The 1BR apartment itself was great - well insulated, quiet, spacious, respectful neighbors, convenient layout, no pest/insect/mold problems. Most of the fixtures, appliances, cabinets, etc, are a little dated, but everything is completely functional, and presumably will get replaced if broken. Having a 6' x 9' in-unit storage unit was a great option for storing bikes. Lots of closet space. 10 minute bike ride to campus. Bounded by two very nice parks. The property manager, Ed, has been incredibly helpful. He clearly laid out what would happen if I were to sublease and then ultimately was the one that found a subletter, something I was unable to do myself over Craigslist. I was out of town when the new tenant moved in, and Ed changed the locks on the door for me, since I didn't leave all of the required keys in the apartment before moving out. Additionally, he called me to let me know that I had forgotten to disable the online autopay function and is currently investigating how to get that money back to me as soon as possible. Overall, nice, functional apartments in a good location for a good price. Ed has gone above and beyond and I believe he is someone that can be trusted and counted on. I would recommend living here."
"I recently resigned my lease for a second year at this apartment complex. The landlord is helpful and addresses concerns when they come up. He is very understanding and down to earth. Maintenance comes quickly after submitting a request. The neighborhood is nice and beautiful. While I have been here, the complex is quite peaceful and not rowdy. Street parking is not an issue over here which is nice. I have really enjoyed living here so far and feel cozy in my apartment. The apartments are large and a great price."
"I agree with the previous reviewer that the property manager is the most aggressive, rude and mean little man. He hates to be bothered by tenants, so whenever you need a maintenance, he tries to get rid of you either by shouting at you or by stating that even though it might not be perfect, he does not see any problem there and you shouldn't be complaining. Whether it is a non working heat in winter or AC in summer, overflowing toilet, mold or insects in the apartment, it is not being attended to or if you get lucky and someone does come in weeks later, be sure that the job is going to get done sloppy. For example, the mold on the walls gets overpainted before you move in etc. They also have an emergency phone number, but they rarely pick up and if they pick up, they usually tell you that you are not the only one having an emergerncy at the moment and that you should just wait. The maintenance guy always gives you a feeling that you owe him a lot just because he is doing a "dirty" job and sometimes he swears aloud which is very upsetting. The apartments are really old and there is a lot of tear and wear, however, you end up paying for the proximity to the center and the two parks. Unfortunately, it feels like Ed is trying to save money buy hiring mexicans and private people for cleaning instead of paying for professional service, which is also bad because you end up cleaning up the mess after those people are done smearing dirt around. I would not recommend Les Chateaux apartment complex. It is overpriced for what you get, especially with the property manager being such a complete a*hole."
