"I’ve used this urgent care 3 times now and I’m impressed by their care and how quick we get care. I have always called ahead and each time once we arrive to when we leave is less than an hour with X-rays."
"Found out that UW Health Urgent Care clinics no longer accept GHC insurance. Therefore I had to go to the only GHC clinic in the Madison area. Absolutely ridiculous that you have to make an appointment to be seen. Don’t call your facility an urgent care if people can’t be seen urgently. Somehow I got luckily the first time I walked in and they had an appointment available. However, the receptionist was very short and not welcoming or friendly. My experience with the nurse and doctor from that visit was great. But then I tried making an appointment when I wasn’t getting better. There’s where the problems really began. First I tried to make an appointment via MyChart. According to the app, there weren’t any available appointments and you should try calling. Also, from how I read it, the next “available” appt wasn’t for another 3-4 days out. Yikes, thankfully I didn’t have an urgent need. Then I tried calling at 2:30 in the afternoon and got a message that I was calling outside of business hours?!?! Therefore, I got transferred to a triage nurse. After answering her handful of questions she said that I should be seen within 24 hours and a scheduling nurse would give me a call back. They called back quick but I missed the call. When I called them back, I got sent around to many different people because no one really knew what was going on -no one had notes of my phone call. Eventually they must have found or heard something because another person came on the line and told me I need to see my PCP within 24 hrs, which is with the UW. I was slightly surprised at this and the women on the line said something along the lines of, “what were you expecting to be seen in urgent care?”. … yes kind of. Especially since the doctor specifically told me to come back if I wasn’t getting better or the symptoms worsen. I was so frustrated that a friend of mine called back to the urgent care -some how she managed to get somebody in the urgent care reception. They told her that they did not have any appointments available and to try calling back the next day. So what, are we supposed to call every day to see if we can be seen? Just no."
"Called to make an appt for urgent care and was told a nurse would call back. Waited ALL day and NEVER GOT A CALL BACK! Why even have an urgent care clinic of you can't walk in and no bothers to return your call. So disgusted with GHC ."
"I really don't like GHC in the way that urgent care works. I get the logic of having less wait time. However, the wait time is the same, when you wait 2+ hours for a nurse to call you. The people at the counter never seem to pick up the phones. I have only had one not so good experience with a doctor a long time ago. Have had many good experiences with other doctors and nurses."
"Unfortunately I go to urgent care a couple times a year because I get recurrent UTIs that come on incredibly fast. Something needs to be done about how this urgent care is run. First of all, patients shouldn’t have to make an appointment because that defeats the purpose of an urgent care. It should be walk in, first come first served. Second, whenever I call, I get transferred to a triage nurse who notes my symptoms and tells me someone will call me back within an hour to schedule an appointment. EVERY SINGLE TIME I wait AT LEAST 4 hours with no call back. I usually have to call again to ask what the hold up is. I’ve waited 8 hours for a call back before. Over half of the time the receptionist tells me that the nurse didn’t give them any notes or they were told something completely different than I was told. I’m currently at this urgent care and have been waiting half an hour to get a urine test done even though I am the only patient here. I ended up asking the receptionist why I was still waiting and she called the lab technician who came out a minute later. The lab technician said she assumed I had already given a urine sample. The lack of communication is astounding! I might have to start driving to Stoughton Hospital urgent care from now on. I don’t have to make an appointment or hold my pee for so long there."
