"Comfortable small cabins. I've stayed in several lake cabins but never one overlooking Lake Superior. The overnight rates are much higher than any of the others I've stayed in and the only reason I can see is the view of the big lake. They advertise wifi but there wasn't any during my stay. I was there during the winter and there really wasn't much to do at the resort. Short distance from Gooseberry State Park where there are trails for walking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Pretty!"
"We love staying at Castle Haven with our two young kids and hope to come every summer for years. The cabins are well maintained and comfortable and have outstanding views of the lake. The shoreline is perfect with a mix of climbing rock and pebble beach. We appreciate the green space to for the kids run and play too. The owners are wonderful and have made our stays easy and delightful. The location is excellent too - very close to Gooseberry and Split Rock. The property is a good distance off 61 which helps with noise and makes it safer for children."
"We love staying at Castle Haven. The cabins are right near the shoreline. They are simple "house-keeping" cabins, but very adequate for a comfortable, reasonably priced get away. House keeping being: cleaning-up the kitchen, wiping-down the bathroom sink area, sweeping the floor area, and taking-out your trash-- simple stuff like that. You can hike from there to Gooseberry Falls. They offer seasonal or year- round cabins. But book early (months ahead), because they get booked up easily."
"Stayed 2 nights. The cabins are very nice, clean and Comfortable. Kitchen has just about everything you need to cook a meal. The only thing we found the kitchen lacks is a potato peeler. The views of the Lake are amazing from the front windows. Loved the fireplace, it kept us nice and cozy since it was a chilly weekend. The beds are very comfortable as is the futon. There is a small list of lite cleaning you are asked to do before checkout, but it is very simple and takes only minutes. We will be returning next year, cand our excited for our stay."
"We stayed in cabin 5, May 2019. It is cozy and clean. There is a fully stocked kitchen with cookware, dishes and such. It has a microwave, toaster and coffeemaker as well. This cabin is steps from the lake with a beautiful view. There are also games to play and a small box TV. Beds are comfortable and so is the futon. They could use another comfortable chair near the fireplace for seating. We had 5 people and someone always had to sit at the kitchen table or lay on one of the beds if we were just relaxing in the cabin. We enjoyed the fireplace, as mother nature decided to throw us a curve ball and snow this 3rd weekend in May! Betty's Pies, Two Harbors and Gooseberry Falls are all very close. There is a list of lite cleaning they ask you to do before leaving, nothing over the top. Just wiping counter tops, sweeping, taking out the garbage..etc. Simple things that can be done in minutes. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again next year."
