"It’s just a Jail Cops are here every single day. No manager on site. None of the machine working in the Laundry room. Swimming pool has been closed for 3 years Gym doesn’t have anything Just an empty room. do not move in to this building Neighbor are terrible noisy. No one is gonna answer your phone when you call management. Paying $2150 for 1 bd every month on time."
"Constant police presence here, buildings are breaking down, bed bugs, roaches, trash everywhere. Pool is filled trash & half empty, no work out equipment. Worst Apartments in Alameda."
"This place is old and outdated and the management is horrible..... If you thought summerhouse was bad this is even worse. Laundry facility always out of order. Black mold in apartments..... Everything is outdated and don't even get me started on there bug problem..... I was one and done with horrible place. If you like your mailboxes and vehicle broken into every other month and century old stoves and refrigerators that your mother's mother used to use this place is for you. Oh yeah if the power goes out good luck getting out that death trap....."
"After living here for over a decade, from growing up as a kid to becoming an adult I can say that living here was a fairly bad experience. I’ll start off with the pros of living here. This place is great if you have kids going to school. You’re located near a elementary school, middle school and high school. All 3 schools are within a 15 minute walk or less. This apartment complex is located near a few running/biking paths if you’re into outdoor activities. Overall I think the location is a great spot. You also get a decent overlook of the water and have some nice amenities like a laundry room, a pool and a small fitness room. You can also sleep well at night knowing that the complex is gated and a door code is needed before entering inside. Now to the cons about Surfside. Management has been very poor. We’ve gone through a lot managers over the past 10 years and many haven’t stayed for very long. The walking decks on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the first building seem to slant downward to prevent water from creating puddles but does a poor job of preventing it. A few stairs upon entering the building feel loose and could break away when walking up or down the stairs. Water spouts along the building were poorly assembled causing water to spill and spit onto the walking deck on rainy days creating puddles before entering your home. The exterior of the apartment needs to be updated and desperately needs a seismic retrofit update since it’s considered a soft story building as of 10/30/2019 according to City of Alameda’s website. Overall, I would not recommend living here at this time due to things being outdated and costs of living is higher than what you’re getting. If anything changes I’ll be sure to update this review or make a new one."
"While this place has cleaned up substantially it's still quite noisy but fairly well kept. As with all apartment, the tenants are hit & miss.seen management rotate abruptly while staying & the none too legal installation of survellence equipment was my last straw."
