"I think a lot of these reviews are bogus, paid for, or these people have very low expectations. I've been coming out to Ocotillo since 2000. The Ocotillo "trailer park and motel" is not a four star experience. Lucky if it gets two stars, only because of the location in this nice little desert town. Last I checked, there were two "motel rooms" in the main building. The beds were terrible, the bathrooms were starting to separate from the main room, and the sink was coming detached from the wall. I had two friends that stayed there, then called me so they could come stay in my trailer instead. The two "newer " rooms near the entrance were purpose built and are better motel rooms. Nothing fancy, but a lot better than the other rooms I described. These are what shown in the pictures. Unfortunately, we sent some friends over there and the room next-door caught on fire. Granted, this a while ago, but it still happened. My strongest criticism is saved for the mobile homes/trailers for rent. I looked at one and the roaches did a parade for me. All of them have old carpet, usually old paneling, old appliances. I don't know if they've been doing a better job of cleaning, but my wife wouldn't even set foot in one. Gross. They used to have a pool , but it got shut down because of various violations. Just do your homework before you stay at the "Ocotillo trailer park and motel ." It has a reputation as a "dump." I would love to see major improvement there, but, in over 20 years, it's still pretty much looks the same. If somehow new ownership has taken over and fixed up the place, go ahead and reply to this message and I'll be glad to come take a look. Unfortunately, it's the only place in town that has overnight "lodging." BTW, some of the pictures shown aren't even in Ocotillo, such as the masonic lodge. That's in another town entirely. If you have your own trailer , there is a decent small RV park right across the street. And another one in town called "Jacksons hideaway," that is well run. I don't believe either of them offers "dump services" unless you stay there. As far as other motels, there are some decent budget ones in El Centro, about 30 miles west. There's also an OK efficiency hotel up in Boulevard, which is about 20 miles east of the grade."
"The remodeled hotel rooms are surprisingly modern and well maintained. The rentable trailers are high quality, with television and air conditioning. It is a great place to stay in Ocotillo. The desert isn't a place where you would want to live permanently. Long-term rentals are not supportive of circumstances becoming "life improving". You wouldn't want to live here unless you have no other options. However, for a desert weekend in this area, it is a great place for visitors to keep cool, shower, and sleep luxuriously as you can while camping. (Glamping)"
"Staff were friendly, room was spacious and clean! Air conditioning works well. Felt safe and comfortable. Price was more than reasonable. We brought our electric bicycles and owner told us to keep them locked up inside at night."
"This is a quaint family operated facility that doesn't boast the swimming pool but it's dripping with hospitality. Caters to the motorcycle and off-road crowds it even has a bar within walking distance. Family of all ages will be comfortably welcome."
"There are only a few good reasons for needing to be spending the night in a town such as Ocotillo. If you do, this is about the only place. The rooms are tired and in need of a remodel. But.... The owner is friendly. The rooms are clean. The showers are good. It seems safe and secure. It's about all you should expect, and it makes the mark quite well."
