"Been insured with them for YEARS.. Used to be very satisfied with 1st Auto, but recently, we have had 2 separate claims to file. Finally, after a very frustrating time consuming long drawn out process and MANY unreturned calls. With great effort on my part, the one claim was paid. The whole process was ridiculous and handled by an outside co.! Now I'm dealing with another, at least this claims agent will return calls.. BUT once again the claim goes to an outside party which is where the problems are starting once again. I have lost all faith and trust in a company we used to recommend to family and friends. Obviously, something has changed within the company and it's definitely not for the better! I recommend others Look elsewhere for insurance."
"I am not insured by this company, thank God! But, my son was hit by one of their drivers. This driver was ticketed and cited for driving in a lane that was marked as NOT A DRIVING LANE. I got the police report after $12 and a 5 minute call to the PD who filed the report. I am not sure why the adjuster is "waiting on the police report". The report is complete and can be accessed by him quite easily. I will update this review when the claim is processed complete, but so far it has been like PULLING TEETH to get any updates from the adjuster. It is the adjuster's job to contact both drivers, however my 20 year old son had to call HIM, leave multiple voicemails and make contact over 2 weeks later. Hello, that is the adjusters job, is anyone paying me or my son to do this work? No. He's getting paid to NOT do this work. All these negative reviews are right, this is not a helpful company or good customer experience. ***Update - claim process complete*** In this case, 1st Auto accepted liability and paid my claim fairly and processed it quickly once they had all of the information that they needed. So, my advice, and this might apply regardless of which company you are working with is this: Represent yourself professionally and kindly and you'll receive the same. Do your due diligence. Understand that this is a business who needs to generate revenue (not pay out claims without ensuring they are doing right by their employer). Gather resources that you can, get the police report, for example, and share this with your adjuster. Follow the golden rule to treat others as you would like to be treated. Of course set clear boundaries as well, such as actions you will take if you do not get an update by a certain time."
"I am not their customer but had to work with Angie in their claims department due to their client rearending me and she is the most awful person I have ever had to deal with! She is extremely rude and short when speaking with her. She likes to over talk you and act like you're bothering her just to get your vehicle fixed. Then today after I thought I was done dealing with her, she calls today acting like I didnt return my rental last week when I picked my car up from the shop when the rental comp just needed her to authorize an extra day since my repairs to long longer. She left me a threatening message about returning it. When I called her back to advise it was returned last week when I picked up my car, she didnt even apologize for being rude or leaving an inappropriate message on my machine! I really hope they have someone over her reviewing her calls, because she shouldnt be talking to people with her attitude!"
"I have been waiting 18 days now for a return phone call. I was told I would receive a call within 48 hours and still nothing. I was hit by one of there drivers and it wasn't my fault the damage wasn't bad so it should be pretty cut and dry. Thankfully they are not my insurance company I wouldn't go there if you paid me to. I understand places are busy and stuff takes time but after multiple voice mails and emails and your word to call someone back you should do at least that much. I'm much more understanding when I'm kept in contact with than when I'm left in the dark. Really hoping I don't have to involve my attorney for a 2500 dollar claim."
"I realize that my daughters accident happened at a bad time of year (mid-Dec) as staff would be off for the Holidays, but it has been three weeks and no progress has been made. I had asked for the claim rep to answer me or escalate my case to the Supervisor....e-mail was ignored and I had to make first contact 4 business days (6 calendar days) later. Now they are trying to offer me over $1,000 less than the car is worth! Suggested they were doing me a favor by raising my "offer" of settlement by $70 to pay of the car, but I have Gap insurance and they would have had to pay the car off anyway!! Very disappointed in the customer service and business practices of this company. I would much rather having being my premiums (on time EVERY month) to a reputable company that had my back during a very stressful time."
