"My husband was transferred here from another ER, because he needed to go to a trauma center to repair his traumatic bone injury, due to a 15ft fall. He was left in a hallway, in the ER, pending transfer upstairs for surgery. While there he was only given motrin for a spiral fracture and a fractured knee & tibia. Once transferred upstairs, after hours of waiting, he received proper pain mgmt as needed. The surgery staff, the ICU staff, the in patient staff and his Pt person were all very nice. The facility, however. Is a fricken disaster. Nurse call buttons don't work. Patients have to yell from the rooms for a nurse, keep everyone else in the area from resting. The rooms are 4 people deep, with staff coming in and out constantly. Again, making it impossible to rest. The visitor bathrooms are only on the first floor, dated, stink and only 1 stall is usable out of 2 or 3, depending on the bathroom. The parking is ridiculously lacking for visitors, either on the hospital side or the ER side. Be prepared to park at least 1/4 mile away and walk - in the lot for the medical offices on the very far side of the ER - closer to the brand new, beautiful VA building. There are no sidewalks, initially, coming from that lot, so you'll be walking through weeds and dirt to get to the staff only lot, next to the er."
"Once you get into the hospital the staff is great, both in the lab and in radiology. It's the parking that causes your first delay. Then it's the wait in line to register, especially if you are in the line to register for the lab, that wait can be half an hour with you being the second person in line. (Happened Friday to me.) If you have an appointment at 11 and it takes 15 minutes to drive there make sure to leave by 10, 10:15 at the latest, or you will be late for your appointment."
"I went in for an adverse reaction to ear drops. Ambulance had to take me which they were helpful and got me there quick. Told them I had burning excruciating pain, swelling in tongue and side of throat which felt like it was closing. By the time I sat down and someone decided to ask what was happening the pain died down a bit. Still felt swelling but could breathe a bit better. Physician took a look in my ear only and said it looked fine, stop taking drops, and follow up with my Dr. Mind you, I told him I was just told this week I had an infection and hole in ear drum. Again, he said everything looks fine. Nothing given to me to help, sent me home. I asked if they had and ENT specialist taht could look at me or Dr and he said “I’m the physician” again no compassion or trying to see what they could do. Told me I was fine and time to go home. I have a really high level of tolerance of pain. Never in my life have I called 911 like that. I just felt like they said “ah you are fine, you came for nothing” Gave 2 stars for ambulance because they were very helpful. My paperwork when I left didn’t say a word of my symptoms I came in with, just noted pain in ear from drops. That tells me they didn’t review everything I told the ambulance or they just didn’t care and wanted to send me on my way. Also the lady “registering” me for payment I guess was very short with me. Took all of my information as normal and left the room without letting me know if I was done or not. Sat there like a dummy for about 10 minutes before I realized no one was probably coming back and I left. Update:next day now head is throbbing, throat and Ear still feels irritated. I reached out to MY DR for advice."
"Just delivered my baby here in December of 2023, had a horrible experience giving birth here. I came into the ER with contractions 5 mins apart already and it took them over and hour and half to get me in a room and check how far dilated I was and even that I had to beg them to check because of how much pain I was in, I wanted a epidural and they took their sweet time getting my blood to the labs and I’m screaming in pain feeling like the baby is coming out of me as this nurse is in the room with no urgency to help me, my husband had to run and grab nurses because the baby was already coming out! As I’m pushing there is two nurses in the back complaining they won’t get a break that night. There was a few good nurses the following day as I’m recovering but the night of my birth of my baby the only person who seemed to care was the doctor who delivered my baby! I would not recommend giving birth here, please go elsewhere! Also as your recovering they put you in a shared room with just a curtain in between.."
"My daughter just had her baby here. Security is so tight and we liked that so much. Everything was modern and clean. The place is actually beautiful. I went to the cafeteria, uh well you probably already know about hospital food. Decent prices though! They have a Pete's on the first floor and they make great coffee, mochas and hot chocolate. During this pandemic they allowed only two of the same visitors the whole time. No one under 16. We found San Joaquin General pleasant and satisfactory"
