Malibu Escape

"TOTAL NIGHTMARE TO DEAL WITH, DO NOT RENT FROM THIS OWNER! Had to cancel this booking due to the pandemic after receiving a message from the owner (in writing) confirming she would issue a full refund for the amount already paid. She has now decided she will not issue any refund and is unwilling to talk to Vrbo or me to amicably resolve the issue. Despite already renting out the dates we canceled (she's not out any money), she continues to keep my money I paid. The negative property reviews should have deterred me from renting this place in the first place, but I can tell you that the owner will not be easy to deal with. So many other great homes in Malibu to rent, save yourself the headache from renting from this owner. Vrbo has confirmed they are investigating her for fraud, just trying to save others from making the same mistake that I did."

"This place is an absolute disaster. Not only was the kitchen absolutely filthy upon arrival, someone in our family was rudely awaken by the owners aggressively arguing in the room next to the house. The owners walk in unannounced, without notice. No central heating. DO NOT STAY HERE."

"We had to repeatedly go outside in the dark/cold to reset the fuse box, the circuits kept blowing. The driveway is extremely steep & challenging to drive, let alone walk up. Much of the place is in disrepair. I gave 2 stars instead of one only because the view is beautiful & there was a lot of space."

"We stayed here with a group of 15 for a Malibu wedding. The property was exactly what we needed. There were more than enough beds such that no-one had to share. There were 5 or 6 bathrooms so we were all able to get ready at the same time, plenty of sheets/towels, and Monic and Shae provided rules and tips beforehand and via (convenient) texting. Highlight of the property is definitely the pool and large living / dining / kitchen area, both with EXPANSIVE views. Cellular reception in the mountains is spotty, but the fast WiFi worked great. The property has some unique characteristics that make it a treasure to explore - but if you are looking for a modern high-brow mansion this probably isn't it. The property is surrounded by amazing hiking / running trails for outdoor adventures. Loved our time here, and will definitely reach out to Monic and Shae if we get the chance to come back to Malibu anytime soon."
