About the Business

Leo Carrillo State Park Campground

Located in Malibu, California, the Leo Carrillo State Park Campground offers a picturesque setting for camping and outdoor activities. With 1.5 miles of beachfront, visitors can enjoy swimming, surfing, windsurfing, and beachcombing. The park also features tidepools, coastal caves, and reefs for exploration. Giant sycamores provide shade in the main campgrounds, while back-country hiking trails offer a chance to connect with nature.

Named after actor and conservationist Leo Carrillo, the park offers Junior Ranger programs and campfire activities during the summer, as well as school field trips during the academic year. Dogs are welcome in designated areas, but not on backcountry trails or South Beach.

Visitors can make same-day reservations for campsites and lodging, based on availability and maximum stay rules. Amenities include token-operated showers, electrical hookups, and fire rings for campfires. The park also offers special events and weddings, as well as filming and photography permits.

For a unique camping experience, visitors can rent travel trailers from Camping Adventures Trailer Rentals, which will deliver directly to your campsite. With its stunning natural beauty and range of activities, Leo Carrillo State Park Campground is the perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts in Southern California.

"Fun place to camp and get away for a while. It is nice to be nestled in the canyon with only a 5 min walk to the beach from most sites. You can’t go wrong with this campground. The camp store is a nice place to get necessities or merchandise. The only con is there is no service in the sites far back, but that’s no big deal. I would recommend to anyone looking for a cool campsite!"

"We love this place. It sustained some damage during the last rain storm, but the State Parks have done a tremendous job of restoring as much of the useable campsites as possible. Kudos to them."

"Such a fun place to camp. We had never been there before last week. The beach is absolutely spectacular. You'll love the wide span of sand. The sea caves just to the north are great to explore on a low tide. There are plenty of trails to walk as well. The campground is really big. The eastern part of the campground toward the canyon has little to no cellphone service. The western part of the campground does have service. The campsites are relatively large, with the standard fire pit and picnic table. The pads, as other reviewers have noted, are pretty short. Make sure to check that out ahead of time before you reserve so that you can fit your trailer. We look forward to going back again real soon."
