"Staff and management team at surf rider are really welcoming and will go all the way to make sure your stay is comfortable. We checked in late at night and the manager Aidan took the time to welcome us and made sure we had everything to make our stay enjoyable. The rooms are clean and in the best location. Definitely made my wife happy choosing to stay at surf rider and thank you to the team to make us feel so welcomed."

"The rooftop bar is the best thing about this hotel. It has great views, good drinks and the staff was very nice. The hotel itself though, was extremely disappointing, especially for the price tag. We stayed in a first floor room. Wi-Fi was down and I would still have given 5 stars is that was the only problem, but it wasn’t. As soon as we checked in I went out on our private terrace and there was a man urinating right outside, only a few feet away from me. Our car was also parked there so we had a puddle of urine to step over if we wanted to get in the car after. Not exactly the view I was expecting. We also did not have hot water in our shower in the morning and had to take cold showers. Being able to take a hot shower is a basic thing I’d expect at a hotel, especially for the price per night here."

"I guess it's an amazing hotel--unless you have a back injury before your trip and have to cancel. BEWARE: The Surfrider's cancellation policy is a NO EXCEPTIONS 1 week policy. We tried to cancel as soon as my husband was injured (3 days prior), but they categorically denied us and charged us the full amount. To add insult to injury, they sent welcome texts the day we were supposed to arrive, that evening and the next morning, hoping we "enjoyed our stay!" Absolutely tone deaf."

"Excellent boutique hotel. While pricey the experience is unbelievable. The staff make you feel like you're at your own rented beach house. Right across the street from the beach and world famous pier. Offers amazing views of the sunrise in the morning and sunset in the evening from the hammock on your balcony. The outdoor bar is quintessential old school Malibu. They offer couches, pillows, blankets, in laidback environment. Looking forward to visiting again."
