Holiday Inn Express Anaheim West, an IHG Hotel

"Staff was the only excellent part of this place. Shady area, dive rooms. Surprised it's a holiday inn. And I stay over a 100 nights a year at Holiday Inn alone. Wouldn't recommend if you are here for Resorts or parks."

The first morning at breakfast everything was fresh and convenient, second morning Christine made us feel right at home with her motherly demeanor ❤️Also House keeping went out of her way and helped me with a stain on my brand new white sweat suit !! "I had booked a 4 night stay at this hotel and on my third day upon returning to my hotel room I find a bed bug on my bed. I immediately called room service from the hallway to come and assess what I was seeing and they ended up taking a photo and telling me that the manger will come speak to me. A few mins later I received a call from the front desk offering to change my room and that’s about it. I insisted on wanting to speak to the manager as this is a bigger issue than only “changing rooms”. I went down and spoke to the manager, Ernie M, and explained what I found. His response was so cold and dull and all what was offered was a refund for one night and to deposit points into my account. My concern was there no alarming reaction or worry of how big this issue is for the hotel. I requested to be compensated for more than the one night and he refused. Informed him I’d leave a bad review and his response was “go ahead”. I am seriously appalled by the service and unsanitary conditions of this hotel and I DO NOT recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. FYI, we had another couple of nights booked at the this same hotel after our trip to San Diego but I immediately cancelled that booking. I will be contacting IHG directly and raising this matter with them as this is completely unacceptable."

"It's a decent hotel and they have breakfast which is nice. There is a dangerous, unmarked step that is not visible when walking from the lobby to the rooms. I tripped on it and my ankle hurt for a couple of days. I placed the "Do not enter" door tag on the outside knob, so I could leave my personal belongings out while I attended an event. When I came back to my room, the door tag wasn't on the door knob. Instead, I found it on the floor inside my room. When I spoke with management about it, they didn't really care."

"This is a bit of a mixed review. Understand that prior to booking you are booking an older styled motel. Yes renovated to fit the current IHG branding; but just like its neighbors it is an old motel. With that being said; service was the best I’ve experienced out of any IHG hotel. The Hispanic girl at night was incredibly friendly and hospitable. Answered every question and was helpful all the way through. The bed and pillows were more in the firm side compared to the very soft and thin ones most hotels use. This was a plus for me. I just ran into some few issues.. 1) Thermostat had no batteries making the AC unusable making the room incredibly hot. Front desk had to troubleshoot the AC then found this issue. Solved, but inconvenient. 2) Splatters everywhere from bugs being killed. 3) Shower head was incredibly gross; chrome has oxidized and it needs to be replaced. 4) Dust bunnies include previous guests hair. Gave indication rooms are not throughly cleaned. 5) Stayed in a room for 4 but only two bath towels available as standard. So I would’ve had to ask for towels. Again minor but inconvenient. Overall not terrible. The hospitality of the employees makes up for everything. I can say though when I’m in Anaheim again this won’t be my first choice."
