"Such an exquisitely welcoming space. Absolutely adore the ambiance and magical fireside time we had connecting with world travellers and some of the locals. The rates were very affordable, with ample space and provision of amenities. I also LOVE the green/regenerative philosophy the Bridge Street Inn employs and love supporting them as a role model. The location is ideally located within a 2 min walk of the town's provisions. Aimee was a splendid host, made us feel right at home, and was super informative and helpful towards our interests. She really made our experience shine!!!"
"Nice 2 bedroom house with small kitchen, refrigerator, microwave, sink in kitchen. In town, close to shopping. We were attending a funeral, and this place was less costly than motels/hotels in area. No WiFi or television, but comfortable. Would recommend this place. Also has a 6 bedroom place next door. Can sit outside with table. No breakfast served, but didn't require it. Would stay there again. Both bedrooms have queen size (unsure if Can king) and comfortable. Parking out front."
"This is an authentic guesthouse, somewhat out of place in the Cambria I experienced. If you want a shiny sterile hotel with room service and anonymity, the Bridge Street Inn isn't for you. This is a place you've got to take some responsibility for. The shared spaces are as good as the people sharing them, and we found them lovely. You will meet some fellow travelers and probably find that they are coming from even farther away than you!"
"The main attraction of this place is the price. We stayed downstairs and didn't like our room that much, but I saw the upstairs rooms and these looked much better. In our case, the room as tiny, but they had managed to squeeze three beds in. That didn't bother me - - I'm used to small spaces, and at $125 a night, you don't expect a penthouse. What bothered me was waking up at 3am with a migraine because the room has almost no ventilation (and losing an hour and a half of sleep). The bed itself was not terrible - - pretty average for a hostel. The hostel itself is very quaint and pretty. The staff, if not always helpful (they told us the gas station was almost too far to walk when it was three blocks away) was very friendly. Didn't see too much of the owner, but I imagine he's more knowledgeable about the area. There is definitely a hippie vibe to the place. Breakfast isn't that special -- basically oatmeal with water--but at that price and with so many great bakeries and cafes in the town, this didn't bother me. In sum, it's probably worth it if you can rent one of the upstairs rooms and plan on doing breakfast on your own. If your budget is limited, it definitely beats Motel 6. And if you stay downstairs, make sure you open a window before you go to sleep."
"I had an amazing time staying at the Bridge Street Inn, totally 2 days. I felt at home soon after I arrived, so much so that I was reluctant to leave the next morning. If it weren't because I was biking into the enchanting nature of Big Sur, I would probably have stayed at Bridge Street Inn for a few more days. I connected with the staff there as well as another traveler. The owner Aimee is a bucket of positive energy and generosity. She went out of her way to help me during my stay. It was an incredible experience. Time for some bullet points of all the good stuff: 1. Free breakfast of organic oatmeal mixed with all kinds of power seeds, raisin and coconut shreds. 2. When they say they have a full kitchen, they mean a FULL kitchen, enjoy your time cooking there :) 3. They are really committed to being sustainable. The bathroom has a lid sink, which uses clean water for hand washing and immediately saves the grey water for toilet flushing. They line dry the linens after laundry. It can't be better than that, the sunshine not only dries the sheets but also kills the bacteria. 4. The decors are charming, just like the 115-year-old house. The lovely sheets and cushions are way better than the standard white ones you can find in hotels, they made me feel at home from the beginning to the end. 5. There is a small patch of "beach" next to the house and the garden. Oh yes there's a garden! There are also outdoor seating areas where you can enjoy the nature. 6. WiFi is pretty fast, I didn't notice any issue browsing websites and loading videos. 7. There's a place to store your bike if you come on a bike like I did. 8. It's right across the street from the Soto's market, an organic grocery store (also a lovely place) 9. Daily morning yoga practice with one of the staff Julia :) Small things you may want to keep in mind: 1. Check in time is 5-9 pm, I called twice and left a voice message around noon, but didn't hear back from anyone. 2. The 4-person dorm and the private room #5 shares a wall and a door (securely locked), so it's not 100% soundproof, but I stayed there on two Sundays and it was very quiet. I would go back over and over again :)"
