"Great place, from the various palm oases to the statuary field (which I will separately rate) and more. And, most of it's free! Note: if you're driving a rental-car company SUV with highway tires, take seriously the off-highway roads with "loose sand" signs."
"We decided to walk the Goat Trellis trail. Getting out there on an Enduro motorcycle is not recommended unless you are skilled and ready for lots of sand. I guess I recommend 4x4 out here. The park has amazing plants. All types of cacti and other flowering ones. I especially like the mountains that appear to be made of jumbled stones. Just tossed randomly. So many amazing rock structures. I bet you could spend a hundred years exploring this place without unlocking its mystery."
"Anza-Borrego State Park is a stunning natural oasis, with a scenic entrance road that sets the stage for its beauty. While the metal sculptures aren't near the visitor center, they're worth the drive along Borrego Springs Road from the Christmas Circle. These whimsical creations add a unique touch to the already captivating landscape, making Anza-Borrego a must-visit destination for nature and art lovers alike."
"Since this is the largest state park in California, expect to do a lot of driving. The area is surrounded by mountains and desert floors. There are numerous washes throughout, but there's very few signs from the road to give you a warning where it is. By the time you see the small sign in the wash, you've gone too far and have to turn around. We stayed at Tamerisk Grove CG but probably should've stayed at the Palm Canyon CG due to size limitation. There's also over 500 miles of road for free boondocking with 30-day stay per calendar year We did see the Truckhaven Rock area, Font Point overlook, and hiked the Slot Canyon out to the Borrego Badlands. Excellent spots if you have a couple of days. While not part of the park, we did visit almost all of the large sculptures seen around the city of Borrego Springs. We have a 4x4 pickup truck but not high clearance. Recommend it for some of the more technical roads. Most washes were fine with just a 4x4 vehicle. We recommend visiting this park if you happen to be in the area."
"Beautiful park. Drove there to go hike the palm canyon trail, and I can say that the drive itself is worth it even if I had not done the hike. After the sun set, I was able to see the stars very clearly. It was a breathtaking moment as you cannot see a starry sky like this in most cities. This park forever holds a spot in my heart for the experience it gave me and the stars it showed me."
