Alamere Falls
About the Business
Alamere Falls is a stunning waterfall located deep within the Phillip Burton Wilderness in Bolinas, California, United States. This popular tourist attraction features a dramatic 40-foot-tall cliff where water cascades onto the south end of Wildcat Beach. While the 13-mile round-trip hike to reach the falls may be challenging, the breathtaking sight of Alamere Falls makes it a must-visit destination.
Visitors are advised to use the recommended routes from trailheads such as Bear Valley, Palomarin, or Five Brooks, as the unmaintained "Alamere Falls Trail" poses hazards including crumbling cliffs, poison oak, ticks, and no cell phone service. The National Park Service strongly advises against using this dangerous route to reach the falls.
To maintain the wilderness character of the area, visitors are encouraged to stay on park-maintained trails and avoid walking along cliff edges. Trampling vegetation and creating unofficial paths can harm the environment and endanger both visitors and rescuers. Point Reyes National Seashore recommends hiking to Wildcat Campground and walking a mile south on Wildcat Beach to safely reach Alamere Falls.
With no parking or entrance fees at Point Reyes National Seashore, visitors can explore the natural beauty of Alamere Falls while respecting wilderness values and reducing resource impacts. Remember to follow trail signs and be mindful of safety guidelines to ensure a memorable and safe experience at Alamere Falls.

Reviews
"Beautiful hike and it took us about 4 hours to do the 8 miles round trip as we took the shortcut."
"Went with a bunch of friends, and we had a blast! Pretty long hike, but it's well worth it. We came during high tide, so we weren't able to go to the shore, but the waterfalls were pretty cool!"
"Beautiful falls and an even better hike. There are many ways to get to Alamere Falls. The Palomarin Trailhead is definitely the shorter and more beautiful route, but you can also reach the falls from Five Brooks. Five Brooks will give you a wonderful forest walk through the hills and down to the Coastal Trail, while Palomarin will give you a coastal walk the entire way."
"Truly amazing! Started at Bear Valley Visitor Center. 16 mi roundtrip. Beautiful trails. Last mile on the beach took a tad longer than expected (sand slows you down). As everyone says, make sure you avoid high tide because the beach pretty much disappears I've heard. Had lunch at a picnic table at Wildcat campground. Gang of elk nearby was super cool."
"Amazing spot. Beautiful hike in and out as well. Fantastic coast views and beautiful trails. There are two different paths you can take to get to the falls, one is the long way around the other is a bit of climbing down the coastal rock ledge. Beautiful spot to enjoy for awhile."
