"Absolutely horrendous. I was taken here as a teen and now as an adult I'm being treated for PTSD from my time during inpatient. I was handcuffed and taken from Bristol VA up to this place in Knoxville (a 2hr trip) in the back of a police van. Handcuffed the entire 2 hours. While there I was only given uncrustables to eat and the "therapist" refused to help me through my mental health issues (bi-polar type 1) and told me my issues were all due to me dressing "gothic". Yeah, apparently bi-polar is just due to how you dress? The staff laughed at and belittled me during a breakdown and I was sedated and restrained for just sitting on my bed crying. They refused to let my parents get me out, after finding out how I was being treated, I think they ended up having to threaten a lawsuit. If you or your child need inpatient treatment go to Woodridge in Johnson City TN, of course none of these facilities are going to be perfect but Woodridge has been the best as both a teen and adult. Both with mental health as well as addiction treatment. Peninsula needed and still needs to be shut down. I still hear horror stories about this place years later."
"Just treated poorly by pretty much everyone. I thought my therapist and psychiatrist were nice and helpful at first, but everything went bad so fast. Even the front desk people are incredibly rude, and unapologetic for mistakes that they make."
"I would not recommend this place to anyone. it is impossible to get your prescriptions refilled as I never answered the phone call when the pharmacy calls them So then you go days and weeks without your prescription period they constantly cancel your appointment, just stay away."
"my son, who is now 10, has been in a facility 3 times, 2 of them were Peninsula. the first time he went, they kept him for 4 days and said nothing was wrong with him AFTER him saying he had suicidal thoughts and he tried to harm me and his sibling. immediately after his stay, we teamed up with Helen Ross McNabb for therapy. he was diagnosed with quite a long list of disorders, yet Peninsula couldn't even acknowledge him within the 4 days he was there. a few years later, I had to contact mobile crisis again and we were told he would be coming back to Peninsula, much to my dismay. they had ZERO record of him being there the first time. this time, they kept him for 7 days and they didn't do anything different than the first time he was there. they put him in a room with others and made him watch SpongeBob and fed him all day. he witnessed a young lady trying to unalive herself right in front of staff and they laughed at her. I'm not sure how that constitutes as helping? every single negative review someone posts, Peninsula writes back with a number to call because, according to their reply, they want to improve on their services. how many negative comments do you need to actually do something about your staff and your practices? having 1 doctor for ALL of the patients doesn't sound very helpful for the patients or the doctor. maybe you guys should actually attempt to help others instead of just trying to grab a paycheck. they are HUMAN and deserve to be treated as such."
"I have never been treated this terribly by any medical health services. Took a month and a half for me to get a prescription. Then they scheduled me for a telehealth session. I waited on my phone for 40 minutes, I called to tell them I was logged in and waiting. When I call again they tell me my doctor says I didn't respond to THEM calling me so I need to reschedule my appointment. I work in telehealth and I can't imagine treating my patients with this amount of disrespect and poor communication. If I could get my medication anywhere else that my insurance would cover I would."
