"I wasn't sure if I wanted to share this, but I look at reviews and hope this helps someone make the best decision for them. I was a patient here for over 15 years and recently had to terminate my acoount. During a recent cavity fill, the dentist barely said hello and just started working in my mouth. It felt odd, so I stopped him and asked what was happening. He said, "just applying some numbing cream." Ok. Then came a vibrating thing against my cheek (which I'd never experienced) and without warning the numbing needle. He hit a nerve so I started feeling electrical shocks all over my mouth (Also, never experienced that before so, at the time, I didn't know what was happening but it was very painful). My whole body started seizing up in panic and my jaw clampped down. He kept saying, "relax, relax" but just kept going. I have zero dental anxiety but this put my whole body into a panic attack (which I have also only experienced once in my life). He left me alone in the room for about 45 mins to "calm down" never checking on me. When he came back in, I told him what I had experienced. He said his patients dont like to know what's being done and asked me if I've ever had dental work done before. I responded, "yes, by you." After being a patient there for over 15 years he had no idea who I was and apparently never looked over my chart before the appt. Needless to say, I cancelled the next appointments. No one asked any questions about why. For many years, this was a great practice with welcoming front desk staff and he was a seemingly great dentist. Not sure what changed but this was the worst dental experience of my life."
"My very first visit, I felt like I was finally in the right place after seeking so long for a dentist that really cares. I am so grateful I was referred here. The dentist took the time to listen to my plight and the hygenist Cat was so nice and professional! I feel like I will make progress here. Dr. Fern is a very easy to talk to and very understandable. He really seeks to save teeth versus pulling them."
"cover over $200, a portion of which was not necessary and they knew that but claimed it was covered. If something isn't necessary and they know that, they know it won't be covered by insurance. They did it anyway. After speaking to the office and the insurance company, it was found that the additional discrepancies were the dental office's error, which they admitted to. They said their software wasn't calculating it correctly. They claim an old office manager made the mistakes and that is why it wasn't caught for over six months. According to their office, I'm not the only one this happened to. Regardless, they are refusing to budge. If you don't want a phone call from them with unsuspecting bills more than half a year later (September for work done in February), then don't see this dentist. Otherwise, get everything in writing. They provide nothing to you and you won't be able to even see what you're signing. They keep the screen turned and don't offer print outs. Now I know to ask so I can make sure what they are billing to my insurance is accurate and not fraud. Not to mention, insurance is coming up with a lower number for what they didn't cover, so it appears they are also racking on a tip of some sort. The practice must be struggling to start doing bad business like this. Proceed with caution!"
"Everyone in the office is so attentive and knowledgeable. Everyone helped me find out what worked for my schedule. Dr. Fern is by far the BEST dentist I have ever gone to. I've always been in and out of new dental offices because of slightly painful filings or cleanings. I just had both done here at Alison Ave Dental and I don't want to go anywhere else ever again. I didn't even feel the numbing needle go in my gums! I've never experienced a painless filling before until today. Best staff. Best doctor. Best experience. I would highly recommend you come here for your next dental cleaning."
"This is my dentist since 2016 since they were located on el cajon blvd, and recently they moved to this location. So far, this is my favorite dentist. The clinic is cozy and looks beautiful and feels like a home. Also the staff here are friendly and always make sure you get the best appointment time that suits you. The doctors here are awesome and are doing a good job. I would also like to thank doctor Robert for taking care of my tooth since 2016."
