"I used to shop here a lot for my kids and have always found great items. The incentive was always that it was easy to leave clothes that my kids had outgrown and receive store credit for items that they wanted to keep and resell. Everything that they didn’t want I could leave for them to dispose of. Recently, however, it has been difficult to drop items off, because they now require an appointment and they make me take back the items that they don’t want, so it doesn’t save me a trip to Goodwill. What used to be a simple trip that I could make whenever my schedule allowed is now a more complicated process that requires much more time and multiple trips, so I am much less likely to use their services."
"They closed the store in Albany the same month I was there to consign. Nobody was notified. I have consigned with them for over five years. Although they honored my trade in SF I have no way of shopping there. They were able to cut me a check for my trade balance but only at a reduced rate. Although this is in the contract, I believe it is unethical to make customers suffer and lose their money because they closed their doors without notifying customers. I consigned the same month that they closed and they said later they knew they were closing but didn’t communicate to their clients. I would have taken my trade elsewhere. We try to make ends meet this affects our family."
"Chloe's is the best! They have two store fronts - one is all kid stuff and one has kid stuff and a smaller section of women's clothing, accessories and shoes. I have been shopping at Chloe's since it opened some 20 years ago and have gotten so wonderful items there for my child, myself, friends, gifts, nieces and nephews. Just picked up some wonderful board books for a friend having a baby. Nice neighborhood shopping area, grocery store, great public library, and nice enclosed playground are all right there on Cortland - so you can get in other shopping, books and kids fun, dining, or quick coffee pick up while you're there."
"Bottom line--if you ever have any small and reasonable issue with selling or buying an item there, don't expect any customer service. The manager blamed me for their mislabeling a product--I wasn't familiar with the sport, so I assumed their label was correct. They didn't answer their phone or return my polite messages to their Berkeley store. When I finally went in to their SF store, they said it was my fault for not returning to their Berkeley store--despite the large closed signs and locked doors--and the unreturned messages I left. I don't usually leave bad or long reviews of small businesses, but this experience took me aback."
"I seriously love this store. Very kid-friendly store, the staff is so friendly! They have a train/kitchen play area, that is free to use if you buy at least $5 worth of stuff, but it's so worth it, particularly now, during the rainy season, plus a kid's clothing side and a lady's clothing side, toys, crafts, games, and books. You can find free books, and inexpensive but good-quality clothing and toys. I bought most of my Christmas gifts here. I love that they make lots of donations to local charities (like Homeless Prenatal Program, which helps homeless women and their babies/children). If you are a local, or visiting, be sure to check it out. It's in the lovely Bernal Heights district."
