"The service and location was fantastic. The rooms however need attention. They were clean which is great, however the beds were very uncomfortable and made tons of noise anytime you moved. Pillows were also very flat. The TV was very odd as half the channels they had listed didn't work, just blank screen when you turned to it. Shower water pressure also not very strong but that is expected in an older building. Overall absolutely terrible nights sleep for everyone, but other than that decent hotel."
"The hotel room beds are uncomfortable and there are no comforters. They use a tattered old blanket that provides no comfort. Upon arrival the person at the front desk was on her phone and bothered when I checked in. I don’t care if they’re on the phone, but drop the attitude when all I’m trying to do is get to my room. Gave me a difficult time about an upgrade and breakfast, but sorted everything out when she confirmed my status. There’s a mandatory $17 amenities fee that you can use at the restaurant, excluding alcohol. This fee is annoying and just a way to support the restaurant. The white male servers in the morning and evening shift avoided taking my order and servicing me. I was the only person of color and noticed the stark difference on how they serviced the white guests - racism in Chicago still persists! The female servers on the other hand did an excellent job. The food also exceeded my expectations. The rooms were spacious, but the tv only offered basic channels. The bed and linens were really uncomfortable. You can also hear some banging from the delivery trucks. The only thing this hotel has going is its location, but there are better options in the area. The bathroom is also outdated and I’m need of a renovation. Definitely avoid - I cut my stay short due to the subpar conditions."
"The hotel itself is fine despite my room being SUPER loud with traffic and ambulances/firetrucks every night. Room could use additional decor. However, beware of valet. It's $79 which was not disclosed upon arrival (by the valet attendant nor the front desk). I initially had to wait 15-20 minutes for valet to get my keys when checking in. Front desk was unhelpful in resolving charges that amounted to $320. I was only made aware of these charges upon checkout when receiving my receipt electronically. I would've self-parked had I been informed valet is $79/night."
"We had a lovely weekend. The upgrade to a junior suite added to the comfort in our dog friendly room. Clean and modern. The check-in staff, the door staff were so lovely and helpful. Ordered room service lunch. The prime burger and chicken sandwich were very good. Perfect French fries. Very quick and friendly restaurant staff. Hotel valet parking available, but since we did not need to use the car during our stay, we used SpotHero to reserve a spot with valet service. A bit cheaper. Washington Square is an easy two blocks away to take the dogs out. Pretty quiet, safe neighborhood feel. We will definitely stay here in the future."
"This hotel is definitely not a 4-star hotel. That was a big issue which led to a lot of disappointment with this property. It's in a great area, but many of the elements of the rooms are much lower quality - towels, fixtures, carpeting, noise. The bathroom clearly had water damage with paint bubbling from the walls and the lighting was very poor in the shower. The glasses had dust inside of them as they were turned up rather than down (leaving me to wonder how long it has been since they had cleaned the room). I was told when I arrived that they upgraded my room because of my status, but I was put in a room overlooking the alleyway and dealt with loads of noise at 1030pm and 6am when the trash trucks and delivery trucks were coming and going. The staff was very nice and helpful, but managing expectations upfront would have helped. But know that you are not staying at a 4-star property."
