Dr. Brian Van Tine, MD, PhD 4921 Parkview Place, St. Louis, MO 63110

"Dr. Van Tine doesn't care about his patients but only drug trial statistics. He gave bad advise to my family member and she was intubated 1 and half day after was given trial immunotherapy plus a dose of chemo when later we found out, the patient's hemoglobin was dangerously low and blood oxygen level was in the 70s when he administered the combination treatments. We did call the office when the patient was taking a downturn but our plead for help was ignored by the person from Van Tine’s office. The situation was dire but they refuse to help or let us talk to the doctor. The patient passed away the following day, that was less than three days after Dr. Van Tine's trial therapy. Both the ER doctor and later the ICU doctor were puzzled by why the patient was given the trial drugs given the situation. Van Tine ensured the patient was doing well when asked if it’s okay to continue the treatment and he said everything was looking good. Please be aware and don't let him talk you into participating in drug therapy without making sure he will put your wellbeing before everything else. He made patients give consent to have blood test results done so he can share internally, but didn’t share those vital data that would have helped patients make an informed decision to whether to continue participating in his trials. we as family members question if we would have agreed to the procedure if there were full disclosure."

"A family member with cancer saw Dr. Van Tine, and his treatment of them has changed my family forever in the worst way possible. Do NOT agree to undergo any experimental trial with Dr. Van Tine. He will not prioritize your own personal well-being, but prioritize obtaining data, and I can hardly imagine a financial benefit for Dr. Van Tine is not involved. He was difficult to reach at all times -- notorious, even, for this among the staff at Barnes --, gave my family member false hope in life expectancy, had office staff that were also completely unhelpful during a time of crisis, and gave my family member more chemotherapy when lab values indicated that chemotherapy was the worst next step possible. We found out the last event once it was too late. I ask that you avoid the same. As a reviewer with a medical background, and with several family members with multiple occupations in the medical field -- Dr. Van Tine is the utter disappointment of the field of medicine and of Barnes, and I cannot recommend everyone enough to stay far away."
