"My nephew has a genetic disorder and spends a lot of time there. This hospital has a lot of great doctors and staff. However every year the level of care has gone down tremendously. It’s so scary. Because his mom is his main caregiver she knows a lot about his care including his trach care, thankfully otherwise I’m not sure if he would be with us today. Because of Covid most of the experienced nurses have left and there’s first year nurses doing a lot of the care. They think they know a lot but I have a daughter that is a nurse and you do not know a whole lot from nursing school. It’s learning from job experience. Another issue is Cardinal Glennon is a teaching hospital so all the residents are in charge of the patient care. I can tell you from experience there isn’t a lot of communication between residents and doctors normally. Plus there is the experience they have to gain to be an actual doctor and most are way to confident in their opinions. They know hardly anything. I’m not saying there isn’t anything good about the hospital but do be careful and be very involved and question everything."
"My 10 day old baby had RSV. The TCU took very good care of us. We had amazing nurses (Shout out to Matt) who were very informative. Always asking if we needed anything. Even got us some food once. It was an all around good experience. I felt very comfortable with my newborn baby in their hands."
"We have been regulars at Cardinal Glennon in 2016. My daughter has stayed at every part of that hospital besides the NICU. She has been seen by many different departments. I can say all and all it is an excellent hospital with excellent staff. I feel every time we go there my daughter is treated as if she is priority number one. I would recommend this place to anyone needing to take their child to a hospital."
"My recent experience at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital's Emergency Room was extremely disappointing. I had to bring my son in due to acute breathing issues, and the level of care we received was far from satisfactory. Firstly, upon my son's arrival by ambulance, I was denied access to him, leaving me feeling helpless during a medical emergency. Throughout our stay, there was a severe lack of communication regarding my son's condition and treatment plan, which added to our stress and confusion. The staff's attitudes were concerning, with instances of unprofessional behavior and a notable lack of empathy. The charge nurse displayed exceptionally rude behavior, further worsening our experience. I repeatedly requested copies of signed documents but never received them, which impacted my ability to make informed decisions about my son's care. Additionally, there was a severe lack of coordination in medical information, with redundant questioning and crucial information not being documented. A particularly inappropriate comment was made by an RN about the hospital's demographic focus, which raised concerns about equitable care. Lastly, the staff neglected to assist with medication administration, instead asking my non-verbal child to hold an oxygen mask, which was both unsafe and inappropriate given the urgency of the situation. Overall, my experience at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital's ER was marred by poor communication, unprofessional behavior, and a lack of attention to critical details. I hope the hospital takes these concerns seriously to ensure better care for future patients and their families."
"We take my daughter here for her ophthalmology specialist. They have taken her from 'legally blind' to 'her vision is perfect besides the slight lazy eye'! We love them! The dr in training (not sure correct terminology) guy we saw yesterday was awesome! He put a sticker on his nose for my daughter to look at and almost walked out without raking it off hehe. The ladies there are all great too! So sweet! My daughter was really scared of the dilation drops but the lady made it so quick and painless that it was no big deal!"
