"I've boarded my dog and cats here many times but the last time I booked with them I was cancelled at the last minute because my dog, they claimed, was not up to date on her vaccines. Specifically she hasn't had a distemper vaccine in a couple of years ... BECAUSE NO VET GIVES THAT VACCINE TO 10 YEAR OLD DOGS! YOU CAN'T GET IT! I got a signed explanation from my vet and even arranged a call with them. But she would not even look at it. Applying this rule with no nuance means they effectively will not board dogs over 10 years old. As I say, I have kept my now 13 year old dog there previously and it was no issue, but I think they hired a new person who isn't familiar with standard vet protocols and she refused to let me talk to the owners. Since it was last minute, I had a very difficult time getting another kennel. I was very disappointed with HCPR since they have been great in the past. But if they don't want my old dog, I won't use them again."
"Wonderful experience! My dog, a female Aussie doodle, stayed here for a long weekend. The staff was friendly my dog loved everyone she was in contact with. The front office staff was kind and able to answer all of my questions. They even washed her blanket when it got a little too much love during her stay. I will absolutely board my dog here again."
"Booked this place last minute as the place we normally book with was full. Was a little unsure of what to expect...some negative reviews from several years ago and lack of a website was a little concerning for us. However, we were pleasantly surprised to pick our dog up with no problems(no sick at stomach issues and no major shedding). We have always have booked with our vet in Westlake and always felt very comfortable leaving her there as the place is very nice. However, based on our very positive experience at this place(Hill Country Pet Resort) we will defiantly book here again, especially being that is is so much more convenient. And, our dog seemed to truly be happy here(she was not hysterical to see us this time, had zero issues with her stomach this time, and no major shedding). A good find for us!! Thank you! You will be seeing us again!!"
"This boarding kennel is located nearby, but the proximity isn't the only reason we use them. The dogs are well cared-for and the boarding costs are reasonable. Our dogs don't seem to mind going there (no pulling back or sad looks) and although they are glad to see us, they don't act like they are in a rush to leave, either. So, I think they are happy while they are there."
"I am very skeptical about leaving my dogs with anyone.. however, i stopped in & met Samantha (the owner)when they 1st took over as the new owners. I loved their energy and passion for animals, they had great energy,& seemed very dedicated to making the resort a great place for animals to be. About a year later, i find that in order for me to move forward in some areas of my life, i need to be able to leave my dogs(canine children)with someone i can trust, so i called and spoke to Cathy, who spent some time on the phone with me, and answered all my questions,so i brought my dogs for a "trial Saturday". One of my dogs is a new rescue, and they were so great at spending time with them to introduce them into "The Pack" and exercising them, in an atmosphere that is happy and good energy, which so important to me as i know my canine kids pick up on the energy that is present. Melissa & Samantha spent their 1st day with them, and were so awesome.. when i brought them back, they both got very excited when i pulled into the parking lot, and couldn't wait to get in the door! When i came to pick them up they were hanging out with 3 or 4 other dogs in their kitchen with Samantha & Dillon and were happy as clams!( Everyone there is great with the animals) They both had an exit bath and nail trim, and where so clean and fuzzy and we all slept great that night. I am leaving for a week to visit my Dad out of state, and i feel so relieved that they have a place to go where they are happy and will be cared for by people who treat them as if they were their own! I am so grateful for Hill Country Pet Resort! Thanks Y'all!, Mia,Kellee,& Greta"
