"I’ve had therapy 3X a week for the past eight weeks. The staff has become like family. Everyone is very attentive to one’s physical and emotional health. Manual treatment is intense but ideally suited for the needs of the patient. Exercises are challenging but do not overload one’s ability to perform. "I have always been very active either playing, demonstrating or coaching sports. So when I had a "traumatic rupture of the patella" at 65 I wondered how my recovery would affect my future activities (as it was my first surgery). For my Physical Therapy I selected Athletico in River Forest as it was close. That's where I met Desiree D. my PT and she got right to work. Desi asked me a bunch of applicable questions about my pain level, location of discomfort and what I wanted to work toward as a result. Then she got to work on range of motion and strengthening the muscles that contributed to my knee recovery. Desi was very knowledgeable about the exercises I would need to do to meet my recovery goals and would have a battery of different exercises depending on where I needed to improve. Every week or two I would hear "let's try this" and I knew my knee was about to be challenged in a new way. I think peoples recovery is in direct proportion to their willingness to go thru the pain and get to the other side. Desi (PT), Eva, Mauve as well as Eric (PT) and Josie (PT) made that journey a success and were also extremely personable and helpful in getting me back on track. I highly recommend this location for those who live relatively close and certainly recommend Desi as she was instrumental to getting me through a difficult recovery process.
