"My mother has been experiencing extreme chest and back pain, which requires a chest CT scan to rule out any important illnesses/masses. Every other test came back as negative, so we have no idea what’s going on and need to know fast, as her pain has been at an 8. She, unfortunately, has a horribly demanding job that not only affects her ability to accept phone calls or messages, but is also extremely difficult to leave early from. They had called her and left a message letting us know that our appointment was cancelled due to a doctor not being present after 4pm. I’m not sure why this was so sudden, but the fact that we weren’t contacted until the same day was extremely irresponsible. This message did not reach her until she had gotten to the office right after work. After addressing the situation, she was met with horrible attitudes and apathy towards our situation, being left to her own devices after wasting an entire sick day for this appointment. The amount of emotional distress this situation has caused our already terrified family is ridiculous, as she now has no more sick days to take off. It’s not necessarily the fact that our appointment was cancelled, but how inappropriately timed these notices were. My mother now has to wait an entire month to get time off of work to take this scan that was supposed to be done over a month ago, now with precious time lost. This was an issue that could have easily been solved beforehand with a call that respected the lives of their patients."
