"What happened last night ,no lights on missed first of movie because it wasn't showing on screen ,we had to go down dark stairs no lights on to report it what happened love to go there pd 50 dollars love the theater ."
"Historical theater in beautiful downtown Jacksonville with excellent staff and good deals. Unfortunately, the owner, Jeffrey, is unprofessional. My wife filled out an online theater rental form and asked a question. Instead of answering, he simply replied with the payment link and a note to pay quickly. She shared this with me, and I promptly paid, as a courtesy to support a local business. She then reiterated the question, and the answer was provided but after we had made the reservation payment. My wife attempted to cancel within less than 2 hours, after receiving the answer to her questions but we discovered they have a strict no-refund policy on theater reservations, which I fully understand. However, it was within 2 hours of making the reservation, more of a purchase error that we would like to cancel. The owner emphasized this policy and mentioned that it's on the website, which is true but a different website from the payment link he initially sent. I would assume that it's somewhat common for the payee to be different from the person completing the reservation form? Overall, The owner's responses were very brief and unfriendly. I would have let it slide, nobody's perfect, but then he just simply started ignoring us, very unprofessional. Causing a lot more stress on my wife who was already having to change the party from an indoor swim party to a theater, due to my son's injury (cast). So my wife simply notified him that our large group won't be coming to the theater. We moved the party to RMC Stadium cinemas, a much newer and nicer theater with far superior and helpful ownership. The staff was excellent, the popcorn is better, the kids had a blast and we will have more birthday parties at RMC in the future I hope the $25 was worth this review. They won't be receiving another penny from us unless there's a change in ownership, hopefully from someone in town. Also, the entire parent body of a couple grades now prefers RMC > Illinois. Also, I’ve seen basement home theaters nicer and larger than the 3 they claim are upstairs and the theater smells like how you would imagine a 165-year-old building to smell."
"Great prices, always have at least a couple good movies and the staff are always friendly and willing to help and answer questions when needed."
"Cool vintage theater which opened in 1939 with one screen. In the 1970s it expanded into a twin theater. In the early 2000s a third screen was added and in 2015 it expanded to its current 5 screens. The building has a cool art-deco appearance and is one of the coolest vintage buildings in Jacksonville."
"Illinois theater has been on our downtown square for many years and is clean with fresh popcorn, soda and candy. They are wheel chair accessible but it would be a good idea to park on the square to get to the smoothest sidewalks. They have tons of movie times available. They will be on the northwest corner of the square. Don't worry if you pass them because there is parking behind the theater."
