"Got to love people that make fake reviews just because they don't get what they want. Paula should be removed and her husbands. Stayed a week free while owners waited to be paid and then when the church paid for ONE night she forged it for 450$ to pay the week they hadn't paid yet. Smh. It actually is very nice. I should know I was sleeping with her there while her husband was at work. She told me when she first checked in how awesome it was and how clean..and that she even had new towels, sheets and comforter. She didn't get her way so they made fake reviewd. She was even arrested for the check. Smh this hotel is very very clean . And.workers are very nice."
"This is the Muscatine meth head motel. I got overcharged for my room twice in a row, I was promised a refund that never came. Most of the things they advertise saying they have are a lie. "The largest indoor pool" is empty. Half of the "fantasy rooms" are under construction. There is NO security on any outside door except the front entrance. The ice machine is broken. The "continental breakfast" is a joke. It's in a decent location, but there are plenty of nicer places in the same area. They're charging $70 to $200 per night but really should be charging $7 to $20 per night and you'd still be overpaying. Bottom line, if you want to stay in a dump, this is the place for you, but if you're looking for something nice, avoid this place like the plague."
"I booked a reservation as a distraction for my kids on Thanksgiving. My mom is dealing with some terminal medical stuff and asked us not to come to them in MO. We are from Wisconsin and came here to visit family. I asked them about the pool (because of aforementioned distraction) and it was closed because they had just replaced the roof and were painting. They refunded all my money and were super helpful. I never saw a room, but it was clear they were trying to update it and I appreciate their help :) I am editing my review. I am extremely unhappy. We DID NOT STAY at this hotel. I went to check in and it was under construction. They suggested we go to best western so we did... they BEGGED me to leave a positive review because they had disgruntled guests who were leaving bad reviews. Well, now I am a disgruntled non-guest. I was charged $179 for 2 rooms that I never used. When I contacted expedia to find out why, they reached out to the hotel and the hotel DENIED my refund! IT WAS THEIR IDEA!!!! I reached out to the hotel and the phone just rings, nobody answers. I also sent an email. I will continue to spread the word of how this place operates until they fix it."
"This hotel was absolutely horrendous. I booked it sight unseen because it had the lowest price (I definitely learned a big lesson!). When we arrived, there was no sign indicating that we were at The Sage Hotel, it was just a recently removed EconoLodge sign. Upon entering, we were "greeted" by nobody, just a phone on the front desk telling us to press 0 to speak to someone. After calling, someone did arrive. She was very friendly but had a difficult time locating my reservation so she had to call her son, who I believe is the owner, who was in New Jersey to confirm our reservation. After finally getting a room, we walked into a room with sheets that resembled a college dorm room, holes in the wall, the air conditioning unit not fully secured to the wall, a missing lock on the door, and stains on the toilet seat. The only thing we did in the hotel room was book at the Best Western down the street. We immediately checked out. It's the first time I've ever had to do something like that because of the disgusting experience. Please trust the one star reviews--this hotel is far from being ready for guests. It's honestly a crime that they took my money since they shouldn't be open until they are fully functional and have safe, secure, and clean rooms. Pay the extra $40 and go somewhere else; you'll end up paying more in the long run if you book here."
"When we got there the person who came to the front desk had no idea what he was doing and could not speak hardly any English. We had to pick up a phone and call for someone. Nobody answered. The guy had to go find someone to help us. After a long day we did not want to wait forever to get a room. When we finally got are room it was gross. The paint was peeling off the walls, there were stains on are towels, and the room looked like it was having construction done on it. If you are fixing up the place do not put people in a room you are working on. The only nice thing about the room was the bed. It was very comfortable. There was no iron and the TV was fuzzy. The toilet had issues flushing every time. When you walk in the hotel it looks nice and then everything else just looks dumpy. There was never anybody at the front desk the 2 days we stayed. The last night we were there, there was a water leak and it was on the main floor near the front desk. There was no continental breakfast. Talking to a friend that lives there said we should have never stayed there. They also said they have been working on that hotel for a long time. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Now I know why it was the price it was. Not sure why they have 5 star reviews. Makes me wonder if they wrote their own reviews. Pay the extra money and find a nicer hotel."
