"I visited BCAC to inquire about spaying a cat I recently adopted ($400+ estimate). I was told I would need to schedule a preliminary visit before scheduling a spay appointment. The intake process itself was more cumbersome than it should be. I filled out the new patient form and sent it ahead of our appointment and I exchanged multiple back and forth emails with the front office. I was told appointments could not be scheduled via email and it was required for me to call during business hours to provide the same information I already documented and shared via the new patient form. Once the intake appointment was finally scheduled ($65), I was told it’d be a quick 30min appointment. I showed up on time and waited over 30min just to even be seen. Our appointment felt rushed and the only thing that was accomplished was getting my cat weighed and nails trimmed. A few weeks later, I had to request a visit summary. This wasn’t proactively given after our initial visit. I called the clinic back at least 3x after our initial consultation to get on the calendar for a spay. It’s took over a month for us to finally connect. They claim they emailed me about scheduling the spay appointment but I searched my entire inbox and nothing came up. Their email address is a known recipient, so it couldn’t have and did not go to spam. Aside from these specific examples, BCAC’s approach is purely reactive and they will not provide any proactive, preventative care / suggestions for your pet. As a new pet owner, this is frustrating and disappointing. In my opinion - they are severely understaffed, communication is poor, and organizational procedure is lacking."
