"Typical of any woman approaching her golden years, I began experiencing pain in my left leg joints. I went to an orthopedic doctor that specializes in knee replacements and he told me it was not my knee but rather my hip and referred me to Dr. Goldberg. I made an appointment with Dr. Goldberg's office, where he took an x-ray of my hips and said I had osteoarthritis in my left hip and suggested a hip replacement. In July of 2015 I had my left hip replaced by Dr. Goldberg and I have had constant pain and discomfort ever since. The moment I woke up from the procedure I was in pain. The recovery team at the hospital could not get my pain under control and Dr. Goldberg was nowhere to be found and was not responding to calls. A couple of days after my procedure, I had my first post-op appointment and expressed my concern about something not being right because of the excruciating pain I was experiencing. When I lifted my left leg I felt an intense stabbing pain in my groin. X-rays revealed that there were three visible screws, one of which was obviously going into my muscle. When I asked Dr. Goldberg, if the pain I was experiencing could be from the screws, he was dismissive, saying, no, the screws have nothing to do with your pain. (It was later confirmed by another surgeon that Dr. Goldberg actually put five screws in me). I went through weeks and weeks of physical therapy and continued to complain about the terrible pain in my left groin and the constant swelling of my leg. Dr. Goldberg continued to disregard my concerns, essentially telling me that this was just the way it was going to be from now on and it had nothing to do with the screws or his work. I reluctantly accepted this and resolved that I was just going to have to live with ongoing pain. It wasn’t until I had friends, a family member, and a co-worker, all female, about my age (55+), that had their hips replaced by other orthopedic doctors that I knew that what I was experiencing wasn’t normal or right. Frustrated and disheartened by my experience with Dr. Goldberg, I decided to look for another orthopedic doctor for a second option. I saw two orthopedic doctors about the unresolved pain from my hip replacement and was prescribed seven months of physical therapy as well as a steroid injection in my psoas muscle (the large muscle that wraps from your back to your groin). Unfortunately, all of this treatment and physical therapy did nothing to relieve the pain and stabbing I continued to experience for what had been years by this point. With zero options I found myself returning to Dr. Goldberg, in hopes that after 6 years he might be able to determine what went wrong, why I have been experiencing chronic pain all this time, and how it could be corrected so I might finally have the pain-free mobility that I was promised. To my surprise, instead of having any updates or solutions for my pain in my left hip that he replaced, he informed me that my right hip was now in need of a replacement. He even had the gall to brag, saying, “Your left hip looks as good as the day I did it.” I left there knowing I would never go back to him. If you are in need of a hip or knee replacement I do not recommend Dr. Goldberg. There are other doctors out there and you should do your own research, ask lots of questions, and if you have the time, don’t be pressured to decide in a hurry. Had I known someone that had their hip replaced prior to mine, I would have known what to expect and wouldn’t have accepted being dismissed, even gaslit, by Dr. Goldberg."
"Dr. Goldberg is the best there is. I've had multiple knee surgeries throughout my life and I am very blessed to have Dr. Goldberg has my doc. I refer everyone i know to him. There is no one like him. Excellent surgeon and really cares for his patients."
"Dr. Goldberg did an amazing job replacing my hip. He is also treating my wife, who has problems with both her knees. These guys are really good at what they do. They treat quite a number of patients, but are so good that it is worth the time to see them."
"Dr. Goldberg performed a knee replacement revision on my knee after I hyper-extended it causing the previous hardware to become unstable. It went better than the original surgery. The pain was actually less than my original knee replacement. Recovery was quick with minimal pain. His approach to physical therapy is simple in that your natural day to day movements are usually enough for recovery. His calming yet confident demeanor was very comforting also."
