"If you want a quick and to the point review, then all you need to know is I would 100% recommend you take your pet to this salon. If you want a thorough review. Please read below (It's very detailed)... I had been desperately attempting to find someone to help me groom my German Sheppard/Chow mix for quite some time, as her current age and health conditions made it challenging to find someone willing to work on her. I would take her to grooming appointments often in the past, but the last visits were getting more and more difficult because she was starting to loose her ability to stand for long periods of time. Her joint pain has gotten a lot worse over the years and is on a lot of medications to maintain her comfort, but unfortunately her hair has been growing to a very uncomfortable point. She really badly needed the haircut, for one, to assist with her mobility (as the hair was weighing her down), but two, to help with the tick problems we were facing. We had been seeing a BIG rise in ticks around my yard (which we haven't had much of a problem with in the past), and she began to harbor so many ticks under her dense/thick coat. I became so desperate I attempted to shave her myself. I got clippers for dogs and the right sizing and everything, but they weren't cutting through her hair. When I did the few hack jobs on her in the past, where I was able to get some of the hair off (not a lot), she would move so much more freely and I just wanted her to be as comfortable as she can be... I had contacted multiple salons and I even inquired to my vet about them being able to assist, but they had to refer me back to grooming for a successful service... I finally stumbled upon Barks & Bubbles Dog Grooming Studio. Firstly, when I walked in, the receptionist was SO sweet and kind, and listened to my story without judgement or immediately dismissing me, but then, she spoke with the wonderful groomer who agreed to do the appointment for Tigerlilly, even knowing all her struggles. After being relieved that she said yes, next came my other hurdle, which was my schedule. I was asked to bring her in during the morning, of course for the groomer to have plenty of time to work on her, but as a teacher I was unable to agree to this appointment. HOWEVER, then I'm told that they offer delivery services where they will pick up and drop off your pet. I was thrilled! The day came and they picked up Tigerlilly, and the groomer even had someone sit in the back with her (so sweet) as Tigerlilly, along with her many problems, has bad anxiety. She gets there and they immediately get to work, creating a speedy experience for Tigerlilly that got her home quickly so she didn't have to be uncomfortable at the salon or anxious for an extended period of time, all while I had gotten text updates on the grooming throughout the process. She came home looking BEAUTIFUL and smelling better than I can EVER say I ever smelled her. They went above and beyond my hopes for this grooming appointment and I can't be more grateful that they were so loving to my baby. I hope they continue to uphold these values they set with this experience and continue to offer wonderful support and grooming to all the fur babies of the RGV."
