"Updated 2/22/2024 The staff are allowed to be disrespectful to parents in front of their children and talk about you too others. Then they implement new and fake rules when you don’t stand for it. Very hard to communicate with anyone or explain any situation. It their way or the high way. Told me I couldn’t walk up and get my child but let others do it as I sat and watched. Update: My child was punched in the stomach. He was sent to my car at the end of the day with an ice pack. No phone call or any type of communication from the school. 98% of the time, I’m the first one in line and there early. I asked him what was wrong and he told me so I pulled up in front of the office. I was let in and I told them what my child said and that I just wanted to know what happened. Another parent had the audacity to ask her child if MY child got punched and of course the child said no. Not that it was any of their business. A lady at the front office tried to help me and go get someone in charge but she and I were yelled at by another lady. This is the lady that I had the incident with above. She always has an attitude and escalates situations. I was told to go sit down and wait for dismissal to be over and then I would be addressed. Another teacher came in and was super sweet and asked if my child was okay. I asked her if he got punched and she said yes. The kids were “roasting” each other (something I’ve seen them do in the classroom with my own eyes. They even roast the teacher and they laugh about it.) She told me the situation and then I basically got up and left. That’s all I had asked for and the lady at the front office was rude, disrespectful, and zero help. Again this is my second incident with this lady. I contacted HR again and asked to have a meeting. I was never given one. I also asked for an apology from her. Was never given one. I told them before that I don’t feel safe and here we are again. Nothing was ever done. I was also told the person that I was supposed to talk to wasn’t even there so I would have been waiting for nothing."
"I can only begin to express my deepest gratitude for the administration and everyone involved at Compass Rose Harvest in Bastrop. They worked diligently this last year through a number of obstacles and this being their first year, they did a phenomenal job. They were ready to handle special circumstances not just concerning my children but the children of friends as well. I've heard so many stories from other happy parents knowing there's a school like this in Bastrop. Absolutely the best charter school in Bastrop if you're kid doesn't fit it at the religious schools or the other local schools. Compass Rose is a hidden gem (but not for too long)."
"Compass Rose Public Schools administration is terrible. It looks good on the brochure but in reality this place is a nightmare. Do NOT bring your kids here. Communication with parents is awful and they say things like “in partnership” and “we hear your concerns” without taking any action at all. The few changes/improvements that have been made since August feel too little too late. A parent shouldn’t have to get hired on staff or become a substitute at the school just to know what is going on! Basic and essential safety like washing hands and having enough towels/soap are not even taken care of. The focus is more on rewards/incentives than actual learning for the sake of education. Teachers are not empowered. Parents are not informed. Vital information is held back or simply not communicated. There is a heavy value on sports and extracurriculars when the basics like snack, safety, communication or routine hygiene are not even mastered yet. This school was not ready to open in August and we kept waiting, asking for solutions, giving feedback and suggestions hoping things would improve. It has only let us down. What a waste of time and resources. The children are the ones suffering here every day because all Compass Rose cares about is enhancing their image and protecting their funding. This place is awful. I am sad to say that I cannot honestly or with good faith recommend to a friend or neighbor. Some teachers and staff care and are trying their best but they are not empowered or given the resources they need. Do not attend. Do not believe a word they say because in the end, it is just lip service with no real change or accountability. There are teachers who care but the school is run so poorly and the class sizes are so big that their efforts are futile."
