"The college idea is pretty good, but everything else at the school just seems horrible. The principle is an annoying dictator who picks favorites and torments the other students. She said ADHD isn't a real problem for a student, treats students like trash for low grades, and makes fun of students who have lower grades. The administration threatens students with removal constantly that many people have become very stressed that they will be kicked out. The engage to learn system is very bad and is especially lacking in Algebra where you get little to no help and the help is very lacking. The administrators should br helping their students instead of picking favorites while leaving the others for dead. Also ADHD is a medically diagnosed problem that many people need pills for and a belt doesn't get that out of kids."
"Early College High School is fantastic! The teachers and admin are very dedicated and have the students' best interests in mind. Standards are high, students are held accountable, and the atmosphere among the students is very supportive. The students are allowed to be who they are yet feel united among each other even though they are very different. I couldn't ask for a better experience for my daughter!"
"Leaves a lot to be desired. Bare minimum things. Only one language coarse ( Spanish ), No cafeteria, classes in portables, sunglasses and heavy jackets recommended."
"Don't get me wrong this school is good the idea is good and the students here are great. The main problem here is how there is idea that the office is very bias and that they over exaggerate their problems and don't listen to the student body. Well personally and like a lot of people I do not prefer to be lead by a bunch of people who make a punishment for getting phone stolen and put in to water into a permanent one. Sure it was to make sure that no one steals again but the fact is that people won't, they'll try to fight against this. But if you for instance try to do what you are trying to fight for than you will get in trouble. Like I saw one person saying how most work in this school is technology based so if you don't get one than you will probably fail. I know how hard that is because it has already happened before. Also may I add how this is a Optional school so if you don't wanna be here than fine leave, but that right there is the problem. If the office says they are trying to help then why are they saying that they don't care if you leave or not. Now I know that they have a waiting line for other students to come in after someone leaves or get out, but if the front office says they don't care then wheres the point in caring about their rules. A school needs to be the leading role for a student, and for them to say" We don't care about you leaving" than wheres the point in staying. This school is great for wanting to get in to college but the authority makes it sound like they aren't on our side. They are but sometimes they don't show it. Now my general opinion. Yes the school is good. The students can be cool and the teachers are awesome if you don't start something with them. But the people you run the office better stop with this attitude of not caring. Also the Engage 2 Learn process does not work well with some people and I believe that direct teaching would be better. I felt that I was learning more in middle school than I am now. And don't get my started on AVID. It's already dying. If it wasn't for the fact of cornell notes and trf. AVID is suppose to help you with organize and helping you with things that you don't about but what it does instead is that it grades you for doing notes, grades you for being organized and grades you for questioning yourself. Would you rather sit down with a bunch of people and have them ask you questions about things you need help with. Or do you wanna just help each other out and just tell us what to do. There's no point in making you question other people when you can ask and they can just tell you the answer. Trust me with this. If this school continues on like this it will bad for everyone. So I suggest that you stop front office and listen. Anyone who made it this far in the review than good for you. I hope that things will changes. Also did you know the whole study all day just for failing one class? Well we need to make it where if you fail some certain class than that shouldn't. Or at the most get rid of it. There's no point and giving them a punishment for not being able to do anything else to fix it. The previous go to interventions that teachers want you in and then you get clubs for the other part of the day. That was fair. Also don't do the interventions all day either unless their failing 4 classes. In fact don't pull them at all unless you have an intervention or their failing. I have spoken. Now make the right choice and allow these things. Don't make excuses. Don't beat around the bush. Beat the bush itself. Don't be that school that only cares about education. That was a little much. Care about education. Just don't go hardcore about."
"Well don't get me wrong this school was a cool idea, in theory, but in reality this school poorly executes it's actions with unfinished concepts and hastily made decisions. One could say that the only positive about this school is the free college hours. However, the administration at this school is subpar at best, they're unorganized, unfair to the student body, and cause more chaos than necessary. the school facility, itself, is all portables, without an actual building, which is too small to host the entirety of the students attending this school. Not only is all of this true, but in the front office, the school is missing a nurse, and as far as the student body knows, they are not planning on getting one any time soon. in addition, this school follows the Engage 2 Learn Model, which is a very circumstantial and ineffective way of learning. Most of the students at this school would agree that the E2L model is unnecessary to learn the material provieded in the classes. This model also introduces "workshops", this is where the teacher calls a set amount of students to learn about a topic and then are released back to their groups to teach the other students. The problem with this is that it's tedious and harmful insted of being helpful. All the E2L model does is add a lot more stress to an already stressful "highschool" experience. They also have very limited class choice, well it would be more accurate to say that there is none. At this school they have no electives, which is a scrifice to say the least, but what they do have is AVID. AVID is a class focused on organization and tuotorials, called TRFs, these tuotorials reflection forms force kids to teach themselfs and self check a topic that they were initally confused about. AVID not only as us do these TRFs but it requries the students to do at least one every week, when the students might not have anything that they need the tuotorials for, which in the end only hurts their grade and GPA. The last item of intrest that i thought is worth mentioning, is that the student body is oppressed and their voice is not heard. When at this school the students are scared to speak up, due to the risk of getting in trouble or "exited" from the school, but we the students are rarely heard when our complaints and concerns are voiced. This, with a lot of other reasons that i will not get into, makes student moral really low and i dont see it getting any better, until this school gets better."
