"As a visually impaired person, I cannot begin to describe how much this school has meant to me. I attended the summer programs at TSBVI for seven straight years from 2011-2017. I gained confidence, learned valuable skills, made friends who were also blind/visually impaired, and made lifelong memories..just by being at this school for 2 weeks each summer! The staff here are all amazing and genuinely care about every student, and are passionate about serving the blind and visually impaired. The facilities are top notch and safe. This is truly the best place that any blind/visually impaired person can go. This place truly is like a second home to me, and it will always remain close to my heart. I miss going here so much. It’s sad to see that many of the summer programs I attended as a child have now been cut because of financial reasons. I truly feel sorry for the kids who won’t get the valuable resources that were provided to me at this school. My advice to parents and kids: If you or your child gets an opportunity to attend this school or it’s summer camps, then TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY. I promise your kid will love every minute that they are here. It will be one of the best things you can possibly do for them. If anyone is able to, then please support this place financially, or any way you possibly can."
"I couldn't even begin to say what a wonderful school this is. The staff, the facility, the skill the tech at making the atmosphere perfect for our children are all above and beyond. I can never say thank you enough for the many wonderful years you provided a well adapted education fir my daughter."
"I went on a tour of the campus today with my friend who accepted a teaching position at this school. This campus was SO neat with amazing equipment to not only supply modifications, but to create and build modifications through technology to help children adapt to their every day life. It was amazing to see and learn about. I am grateful for the tour we had today and for transitional schools like this one to help children with disabilities learn how to cope and use their disability as a strength instead of being hindered by it. From the use of textures in art that the students created, the different textures in the decor on the walls, the knowledge of the staff, the cleanliness, the smiles and laughter of the students in the hallways, the technology and support on campus, the friendliness and welcoming of the Superintendent...I felt like the school just radiated positivity. What an awesome experience. Thank you to all of the staff I met today."
"The people who work here are an absolute joy! They are attentive to the needs to each student and often go out of their way to assist with their individual needs. I highly recommend this place to any who need there specialized services."
"TSBVI is a special place. Students benefit from the care and support all employees provide. It is apparent that everyone wants to be there - students, faculty, staff, residential instructors, and volunteers. Austin is lucky to be home to this school."
