Wayside: REAL Learning Academy

"My son attended this school from Pre-K until the 2nd grade. We had a great experience with his teachers and the school activities overall prior to 2nd grade. Ms.Sierra is one of the most unprofessional and ruthless teachers I’ve ever encountered. My son would report to her things that he was told or done to in restrooms (such as being spying from a fellow class mate), Activity time classes (a classmate throwing a water bottle at his forehead and leaving a mark) and her response would be calling him “Chismoso” aka Snitch/Gossip….? Is it gossip when a child is trying to reach out to you for help in situations where he feels aggravated? Also, I thought this school was respectful of all races and religions. That was not the case when my son opted out of a Halloween celebration and his teacher tried to force him into a dance he didn’t want to participate in and would constantly give him snarky messages when he talked about believing in God. I’m truly disappointed that he had to leave Wayside because we did like it. Every teacher he had before were amazing instructors."

"We love this school, our daughter goes there since she was on pre K-3 she is 9 now, and she reads and writes perfectly in Spanish and English, her math skills improve every year. Plus she loves her school. We always have a good communication with the principal, and teachers. We highly recommend Real Learning Academy!"

"We came to Real Learning Academy 3 years ago after our son with autism was mistreated by our local isd. We received nothing but kindness and support placing our child with an IEP into the school, his accommodations have all been met without even one need to advocate on his behalf. Teachers and admin are more than willing to help him and I no longer have to dread an ARD. My other typically developing children also attend Real. They have received a much better education than our ISD ever offered. The environment for learning is superior to any school I’ve ever seen or worked at. The teachers are kind, the staff is supportive, the teachers are brilliant and skilled. The classrooms are beautiful and well kept. My kids’ social, emotional, physical and educational needs are more than met, both my typically developing and disabled children. My children are fed, and cared for. The environment is calm and nurturing. Above all, Real Learning Academy has offered my son safety and respect when another school failed him, and we are forever thankful and grateful for everyone there. I have always believed that anyone or any system is measured by the way they treat the most vulnerable among them, and from the top down, Wayside treats their vulnerable (whether physically, mentally, or socially) as important and valuable. ❤️"

"My son goes there and loves all his teachers, assistant principal and principal. If you are parent that loves to be involved and help your student achieve goals...... this is the school for your student. I am able to check on my child via class dojo. As well as ask for help for my child if I feel like he is not getting the information. I wish there was a location North."
