"Great tribute to the black service men who fought all our military battles and were not fully recognized….Fascinating and important American history……"
"I was in Houston with my hubby for his business trip. I don't know anyone in Houston, but I made new friends at the Y. We made plans to visit this museum, but they bailed on me (it is okay...this was all last minute). Anyway... I went alone and had a FABUOUS time. The museum is inexpensive, yet rich with culture and historical information. One of my favorites was a letter from an ex-slave to his former master. It was HYSTERICALLY FUNNY!!! I will definitely visit again! I purchased everyone back home a gift, except for myself! LOL! I will go again, and the next time, I'm bringing my brother-in-law, who is a Buffalo soldier!!"
"I enjoyed the visit and was reminded of the service of African Americans to the United States Armed Forces. I was surprised that the museum was not better funded. However, the pride was palatable and many of the exhibits were surprising. I also liked the old armory building. The museum deserves more visitors and better funding in the future. (Just compare this museum with the Asian Culture Center just a few blocks away)."
"So many untold stories about these amazing men of color. This small relic of memories is fascinating and humbling."
"We enjoyed visiting the museum. There's an informational video to start and a laid-out map of the entire museum exhibit. The welcome committee, Mr. Larry Coleman, was very attentive and gave clear instructions and directions. We purchased shirts from the gift shop and ended with photos on their backdrop. It was a great experience. So much information about many who have paved the ways for African Americans in the military and their contributions to the wars of this country."
