"If I could give a zero star I would....the amount of appreciation they (a church) show the people who deliver their food in today's climate...horrible"
"May God help these people! If I could give zero stars I would. My mother recently passed away, my mother occasionally went to this church and didn't mind going because one of my sisters used to work here. My family and I thought it would be nice to hold her services here because she enjoyed going here, however it soon turned into a nightmare experience. My sister was in contact with the church, she was sent an email by Charla confirming a date and time for a zoom conference with the pastor so we could discuss the service. The day we were scheduled to have the zoom meeting with the pastor, Charla called my father, my father and were expressing our concerns about service times, because we had just been informed by the funeral home that some times had been adjusted without our approval. I had previously spoken with Charla and she had stated over the phone that we would have to speak with the pastor about certain things, while I was reminding her of this conversation she continued to be very unprofessional and speak over me. She was being very disrespectful and I realized she was not listening so I ended the conversation. Shortly after our conversation, she sent my sister a second email, stating that we could not have a zoom meeting with the pastor unless we agreed to the below fees: -Pastor receives an honorarium - amount at the family's discretion. ($200-$300 is the dollar frame that I have found to be most common, but the amount is entirely up to the family. This is paid directly to the minister) -Organist - $250 -Music Director/Soloist - (this amount might change if we need to hire a guest vocalist) - $250 -Sound Tech - $150 -A/V - (if needed for a video/slideshow - contact me if this is planned) - $150 My response is below: "We have not yet spoken with Pastor Leo to go over what our family wants for my mother's funeral, so we cannot agree to pay for all items listed. We do however agree to pay for items listed if we decide to use those services, however we were under the impression from your original email, that it would be discussed with the pastor. Also, please note that it is noticed that it was not until after my conversation with you earlier that you let us know that we need to agree to things we have not yet had the opportunity to discuss with the pastor prior to you activating the zoom meeting. As stated, my family and I will pay for the services that we do decide to utilize during my mother's services. We also agree to the 10:30 am start time of services. Shortly after sending my email, Charla called my father, she stated that all fees had to be paid, even if we were not utilizing those services. None of this had ever been told to any of our family members in any emails or conversations prior to this phone call. How sad, that a supposed church of God would use the death of someone who cared deeply for this church and its members to attempt to take advantage of a family during their time of mourning. My family completely understands and was willing to pay for services that we were going to utilize. But them attempting to put us against a wall and force us to pay for things we did not need or want for my mother's service is truly sickening. On a day that we simply wanted to put her to rest and give her a service we thought would be best for her, this church put money above God's work. My heart hurts knowing that BUMC is not a true church of God. However, my family and I will continue to pray for the lost souls of this "church"."
"Bill helped us out BIG today. Took some donations and after he told us they are doing another run to Lake Charles to help and he was ever so appreciative we ran for drinks as well. God has blessed this wonderful Church with blessed caring people. Much love and respect ❣️"
"I love Bear Creek U.M.C and always will. It's a real home and the people are amazing. Some may try to find a way to hate on Bear Creek because we are who we are, but no matter who you are or what you think about us or the world we love you. And that shines through in this church."
