Foster children often fall behind academically when they move homes, with 50% never graduating high school. Change 1 advocates for these youth and works to strengthen families and communities. We support youth transitioning out of foster care, as well as those who work with them and the community at large.
Every year, 250,000 children enter the foster care system due to abuse and neglect, with 20,000 teens emancipated at age 18. Nearly 40% of these young adults experience homelessness within 18 months, yet 70% aspire to attend college, with only 3% achieving a degree. Our mission is to change lives by changing minds, offering a brighter future for those who have faced adversity.
