"Most doctors dont even listen to you. Then I had to straighten out a boot resident for his "know it all" demeanor. Doctors used to be personal and actually treat the issue. Now it's take this pill so I can get a kickback. Hey doc, there's only one God, and it's not you!!!"
"Gotta be the worst healthcare facility in the country. Millions spent on expansion but the care sucks. I guess so employees can continue to collect their checks while doing the bare minimum. Also, notice that most of the good reviews from 4 yrs ago and later. All the recent reviews are low. The reviews are RIGGED! Ratings should definitely be much lower."
"Always a pleasure going here. The staff are amazing, the nurses are very caring as well as the Drs. I have to add the food in the kitchen is right on especially the fish sandwichs. There is always great finds from the VA store. It's all together a great place."
"In 2014, I was working two jobs, and came to the ER to be treated for a bladder infection, because I didn’t have time to see my regular VA provider during daytime hours. An older woman was working triage, with a blonde ponytail and glasses, and she tried to persuade me to leave the ER, stating that I was wasting ER resources for something that my regular provider could treat. I insisted that I couldn’t immediately work out seeing my regular provider, and that I wanted to be treated sooner. I went to the waiting area, and was soon called by another woman, who worked for the hospital, who tried to persuade me to leave and schedule an appointment with my regular provider instead. I repeated that that wasn’t possible at this time, and that I wanted to be treated. I went back to the waiting area, and soon after, the older blonde in triage opened her glass window, leaned out, and called, “Amanda Whitehouse!” I acknowledged her, and before I could stand, she shouted across the waiting room to ask, “does it burn when you pee?” I froze, as every other person in the waiting room turned to look at me, so she repeated, louder, “DOES IT BURN WHEN YOU PEE?!” I shook my head, “no,” more mortified than I’ve ever been. I was a medic, and I can’t imagine any competent medical professional shouting that kind of question across a waiting room. Once I was in a treatment room, the ER director himself came to treat me, and told me that he was treating me for gonorrhea. Cue way more humiliation, because I didn’t expect that at all, it was never a possibility as far as I was concerned. I was given antibiotics and sent home. Here’s the kicker—when I was able to follow up with my VA provider, she told me that I NEVER had gonorrhea, the test was negative, and that my urine culture showed that I had a bladder infection so severe that she believed that I had been nearly septic. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU. This is exactly why younger veterans do not trust the VA. It is laughable to think that I was accused of wasting ER resources, when a great many resources were wasted in trying to humiliate me. It worked though—I have never been back to the VA emergency department for treatment. It has taken me YEARS to speak up about this, such was my humiliation. I sincerely hope that all individuals involved in my humiliation burn in hell."
"First I want to say that I work at this hospital but I’m also a Veteran who was sick and hurting in the early hours of the morning. I came to the ER to be seen cause I knew that I was going to get excellent care. If I had gone anywhere else they would have flat out said This isn’t emergent! Why are you here? And they wouldn’t have been wrong but that’s where it’s different at Robley Rex. The nurses and the doctor that treated me said “It’s ok! Let’s see if we can’t figure out what is going on so you can get better! And they did just that! I owe them all a huge debt of gratitude! I’m home and recovering but I had to come on to say we have some really big rock stars working in the ER and this veteran was sure glad you were there when she needed you!"
