"Great Filipino grocery store with an excellent seafood selection. They will clean and even fry your fish. I also appreciate that they have labels if it’s been frozen previously. The grill city inside is an excellent restaurant. There is typically a long line, so be prepared to get your name down in order to stand in line sometime in the weekend I could take well over an hour. It’s a very clean store, well staffed and clean parking lot"
"This store has a lot of wider range Filipino grocery items that are not commonly found in other Filipino stores in Houston and surrounding areas. With so many items to choose from, every stock is well organized. Not to mention the different flavors of ice cream and much more! They also carry a store brand called "Pamana". The store also sells the 2 known major beer brands in the Philippines , San Miguel Beer, and Red Horse Beer. Inside the store is a bakery shop and a grill food restaurant. I would consider coming back for sure!"
"This location is well on the way! Reading up on some of the past reviews I just want to say the fact they have inventory sold out is a blessing for the business. This is SFC first location in the state and for sure will have a learning curve as it adjusts the supply and demand of its logistics. The staff and energy is friendly and energetic. The price point for a lot of the inventory is very competitive to the similar markets in the area and I think it will be a suitable anchor for diversified stores in the near future. The grill city lines have been addressed and I was pleased to see they have a number system for customers wishing to dine in and receive a text message for when they are ready to receive the party. I do believe if they had opened the third register primarily for take out orders and quick items it would help out a lot. Lines everywhere else were moving so quickly despite the long wait appearance. They were busy on a healthy level on both New Year's Eve and Day. That's dedication to the community in my opinion! If you have time to dine, they have a way to wait virtually while you shop. And I believe that patience is key for customers who haven't had the menu items before. It's a worthwhile experience. It's a first for Seafood City and the neighborhood. Customers are driving an hour or so just to visit. It's great to know they're getting that much support."
"In my opinion, one of the best Asian grocery stores in the greater Houston area. Super clean and great diversity of products; in addition to Filipino things, I saw Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and other SE Asian products as well. Very comparable pricing to other Asian stores in the area. Produce was fresh and well organized. Lots of weekly sales with good deals to be found. Bakery had lots of ube goodies! So excited to have this supermarket in the area, an important addition for our diverse community."
"We specifically waited over a week after the grand opening to give this location a proper review without all the "grand opening" craziness. Unfortunately, we were unimpressed by our experience. It is obvious they are understaffed right now, but the grocery staff were all friendly, helpful, and working hard despite the staffing situation. The seafood section was good, but not as good as other locations we have visited and no better than their local competition in Houston. We were not impressed with their non-seafood department as it was no better than their local competition, and several other grocery stores are better. The same can be said of their produce section. We were also disappointed with the dry goods section because many items were either not in stock or not available. This was especially true of several popular Filipino items. It is something we have not experienced at other Seafood City locations. As for the frozen and cold goods sections, while not fully stocked when we were there, it appears there will be a good selection of items once they all the missing items are available. We did notice a number of negative reviews that were mainly due to Grill City at this store location and agree that there are significant issues plaguing it. From excessively slow service resulting in long lines and wait times to complaints about inconsistent food quality, it is difficult to know how they can rectify the situation. Another issue is the noticeable concerns regarding customer safety and shoplifting. While we were glad that location management was proactive enough to have plain cloths security on-site and in the parking lot, it was still a concerning and worrisome situation that we hope will improve in the near future. At some point this first Texas location may be on par with their other stores, but as of now they are not and it is unlikely we will patronize this location any time soon."
