"Alright, folks, let's dive into the heart of downtown Houston where La Taquiza is serving up some serious Mexican brunch vibes. This place? It's not just a restaurant; it's an experience wrapped up in a cool, modern vibe that's got a shared space thing going on with other eateries. But let me tell ya, La Taquiza holds its own with flair. First things first, if you're eyeing that Sunday brunch buffet, do yourself a favor and book ahead. My crew and I learned that the hard way and ended up a tad too far from the mariachi band. And yeah, missing out on the full blast of those tunes was a bummer. The vibes? Still good, but next time, I'm snagging a front-row seat. Now, let's talk cash. The entry fee's a bit steep, but when you see the spread, it kinda makes sense. Just a heads up though – drinks aren't part of the deal. Not even water, folks. Had to shell out extra for a bottle, which felt a bit off in the grand scheme of a buffet. But hey, the food! It's pretty as a picture and tastes as good as it looks. You can tell there's a lot of love and skill going into every dish. And the owner? Super friendly and genuinely happy to see folks enjoying the food. It's those little touches that make a place stand out. Here's the twist in the tale – parking. Thought we hit jackpot with the open garage door, but leaving was like a scene from a sitcom, minus the laugh track. A bit of a mix-up with the exit and a parking attendant who wasn't feeling the Sunday spirit. Thankfully, a cool manager came through and saved the day. Adventure? Definitely. Hassle? Absolutely. So, here's my take: La Taquiza's got the brunch game on lock. The ambiance, the spread, the whole deal – it's a solid 3.5 out of 5 in my book. Would I go back? Maybe. It's a spot with a lot of potential, just need to iron out those few quirks. But if you're in Houston looking for a taste of Mexico with a side of adventure, La Taquiza's worth the trip. Just remember to book ahead and maybe, just maybe, double-check that parking situation."
"We came to the Sunday brunch and I was amazed by the variety of traditional Mexican dishes, Mexico City-style. The food was delicious, the service was impecable and the atmosphere was pleasant and nostalgic. 10/10 recommend!"
"Showed up today to show support only to find out that “Houston Hot Spots” shared a post about the brunch and it went VIRAL!!!!! The line was long and I truly was overjoyed for the team. This is a family owned business and the owners did NOT stop moving. They kept refilling the stations non stop as fast as they could. The hustle was like no other. When they weren’t filling stations they were talking to customers explaining what happened and apologized for the unexpected chaos! Truly, what a great problem to have!!!! They were even offering 50% off the next visit as a thank you for braving the line. I am so incredibly proud of this family and would stand in their long lines any day!!! My family and I tried a little bit of everything and it was all delicious. Can’t wait to go back! Cheers to a hardworking family!!"
"Brunch buffet on Sundays was pretty awesome. Barbacoa, carnitas, pozole, picadillo… all fantastic. Homemade tortillas and salsa. The mariachi was a great finishing touch. A little expensive, but worth it… go hungry."
