Jon Derrick: Allstate Insurance

"Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I've been with Allstate over 30 years in two states. I was moved to this office when Granbury closed. My home insurance went up 60% ! I never had a claim. There's no reason for such an increase. When I asked about it, I was told I could get insurance elsewhere. I asked to review my coverage and was advised to go online to look for myself. I will be finding another agent."

"Yesterday (9/27/2023), over the Internet, I received a survey from Allstate, my home and auto insurance company. I was asked if things were going well with my two policies, and if so, would I consider submitting a review of my experience with Allstate via a positive Google review? I considered the request no big deal. So here is my Allstate review. Back in April of this year, I made two meaningful, financially wise decisions. And they were (1) I canceled my USAA home insurance policy. This insurance is exclusively designed for people and families who serve or served in the U.S. Armed Forces. I'm a U.S. Army vet who served overseas during the Vietnam War era. Now when my USAA home insurance policy was due for renewal this past April, I was somewhat surprised at the hefty premium increase they were going to charge me. I thought to myself, no way! I turned to a local Allstate office of the Jon Derrick Agency LLC, here in Fort Worth. Wow, the Allstate insurance professionals there were awesome! Especially associate agents Steve Rizzotto and Eden King. And I'm really pleased to say, I was offered a great, home insurance policy that offered me basically the same coverage I had with USAA, but for hundreds of dollars a year less! And (2), I got an equally good deal with my auto insurance. I canceled the auto policy I had The Hartford AARP auto insurance. I had that policy with The Hartford for many, many years. Actually, I didn't want to give it up at first since I had a bit of an emotional attachment to it since The Hartford is located in my hometown of Hartford, Connecticut. I'm 83 now, but when I was 10-or 12-years old, I fondly remember riding my bike pass The Hartford company headquarters building on Asylum Avenue several times a month. But when Allstate offered me a lower premium price on my auto insurance, I knew I had to put sentiment and nostalgia aside when Allstate's lower payments trumped what The Hartford wanted.
