"My husband and I are the owners of a 2020 Subaru WRX STi; we purchased the vehicle new in February of 2021. In late November of 2022 we reached out to Ryan Payne at P2P Racing to begin discussions about a custom-built engine for his Subaru. From the moment we talked with Ryan over the phone, we knew that we wanted to Ryan to build his engine. Ryan is incredibly knowledgeable and makes you feel like you’ve been friends for years. We spent nearly 2 hours on the phone that evening. Ryan took the time to understand where we were with the car and where we wanted to go with it. While we didn’t have a budget for the build, Ryan presented two options … one that was middle of the road and one that was basically go big or go home; of course we opted with the second option … After sending the engine off, we began to ponder why we would go back to the stock location turbo when the engine package we selected was capable of so much more. It was time to go to a much bigger turbo. After consulting with Ryan, Dewey, and some other industry experts we decided on a Garrett G35-1050 turbo. But why stop there? The car was clearly headed in the direction of becoming a dedicated track car. It was time to upgrade the engine management to a standalone which would give us more control over the tuning capabilities, as well as implement safety protocols to protect our investment whilst on the track. Fast forward to receiving the engine back, putting the car back together, and the initial startup – she was humming along great during the break in and base tune. Ryan was there for us every step of the way with any questions or concerns we had. I was racking up break in miles, following the P2P break in procedure. Unfortunately, we had a sudden component failure that caused excess air to be ingested into the cooling system which quickly caused an overheating condition which led to a headgasket failure. This led to the engine being pulled from the car and sent back to Texas for inspection. Ryan’s customer service and handling of our situation was top notch. He worked quickly to evaluate the engine, compile the engine report, and come up with a plan to get us back on our way to getting this girl tuned. He was just as devastated as we were, he wanted desperately for us to be able to enjoy our new engine. I want to make it clear that this was no fault of Ryan, this was on me. Despite all of that, Ryan was generous enough to replace all of the failed components at cost, and do all of the assembly, evaluation, reassembly, and machine work for zero cost to us. Let that sink in, over 35 hours of labor, nearly a full week of work for the rest us – for no cost to us. This was an incredibly generous gesture by Ryan, and we cannot thank him enough for that."
"I'm giving P2P Racing 5 stars for multiple reasons! The customer service and high level of technical expertise greatly surpasses all other motor shops I've dealt with in the past. I highly recommend there services to all motorheads."
"I met Ryan at Big Event in Houston, Texas back in 2018. I was in the market for a built block at the time. After talking to Ryan and hearing about his experience with all the BIG companies that make built blocks for Subarus I knew I had to give him a chance. 4 years later, 10k miles on a very hard driven car my block is still holding up like a champ. 608whp/556wtq at 32 psi it never skips a beat. This is by far the BEST block on the market!!"
"A reputable performance shop recommended P2P Racing for my Subaru engine build. I was sold immediately after Ryan answered the phone. He is the actual engine builder. All other engine places I called had salesmen answering the phone. It was refreshing talking directly with Ryan. He answered questions and explained important things about the Subaru engine platform on our first phone call. He has made recommendations for my engine along the way and has explained everything clearly. I HIGHLY recommend P2P Racing for your engine needs!"
"Ryan builds a fantastic motor. Proven in cars that are either a daily or up to full out, purpose built race cars. Hard to find someone who puts in the meticulous work including pinned mains and closed deck on all blocks. Always helping to answer all my questions before, during, and after the build. Hand built engines that will go lap for lap, year after year with quality materials. Handled my 6466 like a breeze, now am finishing up by upgrading to a billet crank, long rod, and even larger head studs. P2P block then and P2P now, won’t look back."
