"One of the best vegan meals I've ever had in Houston (EaDo). While their published menu is very limited for even vegetarian options I called ahead and they were willing to work with me. They asked once again at the table which person was a vegan and we exchanged some ideas on a dish. The server spoke with the chef and we settled on a spinach and mushroom enchilada with a verde sauce. They even have lard and bacon fat free flour tortillas upon request. Without prompt the server even said the chef would ensure it had no butter used in the saute and no dairy whatsoever. Rather than the rice and beans it comes with they offered some sauteed veggies. My entire meal was absolutely fantastic. I'm big on flavor and have had some dull meals at non-vegan restaurants. This was far from it. Not one morsel left on my plate. Chef Vincent came out and shook my hand and I thanked him for being so easy to work with and delivering on flavor. All in all an excellent experience for a cuisine that is not the easiest to make vegan. It's moments like this that create repeat customers."
"The food here is delicious. Got the fajitas they were mesquite-smoked and tasty with an almost TX BBQ flavor. I asked our server if I could get a margarita mocktail & the bartender fixed me up a wonderful drink. My husband shared my large fajitas & had a tasty shrimp quesadilla. Portions were large & we took about half of our food home. The brochette shrimp were amazing, definitely worth adding to your entree. Be aware that it's either street parking or paid lots. But it's also very close to dynamo stadium, so it's a great place to pre-game or go post-game. Also, the rice & refried beans together were some of the best I've ever had"
"I've been here twice and both times I've had a decent experience. I think this is a great place for drinks and appetizers but I wouldn't go back for lunch or dinner. I think it's overpriced and lacks good food. If you aren't too picky with Tex-Mex, definitely give it a try. Their queso and chips are good but their salsa was bland. Food is pretty mediocre compared to other Tex-Mex establishments in Houston. Nevertheless, as I previously stated, I'd still go back for drinks and appetizers."
"Might be the best Mexican restaurant in Eado. Chips and salsa are leaning more towards an authentic Mexican salsa instead of texmex, which is a good thing. The guac is good mix of chunky and creamy with pico and jalapenos. They also have a mango guac that is definitely a refreshing seasonal option that has good citrus, but not too sweet to the taste. The queso is nice and creamy in a crema forward taste instead of cheese forward taste which we appreciate. The Mexican Martini is spot on, good balance of olive brine, citrus, and tequila. The watermelon margarita is like an agua fresca in a refreshing way, not overly sweet. I also got the tamarind grill quail. It has a very subtle sweetness that added to the natural flavor of a properly grilled quail very nicely. The grilled veggies on the side were excellent and they were dressed as an escabeche. It all laid over a risotto-esq fluffy type of cornbread that was savory with a little sweetness in the back end. Highly recommend. Gabriel took care of us at the bar, excellent service and recommendations. Their bar is stocked with quality tequilas and mezcals as well as other artisanal spirits from Mexico. The only knock was not enough Mexican/Latin music. I don't want to hear country music while I'm having Mexican food."
"First of all only street or pay to park lots so be aware. Very cozy and old school feeling as you walk in. You get an open view of the kitchen which is cool. The chips are thicker than average which is nice and they are one of the best things. The red salsa was ok. Had flavor but no heat. The green salsa though. WOW! That was so good. Super fresh. We got the queso with ground beef to start. Delicious. I got a mocktail which was just a NA margarita. Super fresh and delicious and my gf got the hellfire margarita. She said it was good but not enough spice. For the mains we got the Mixed Grill Combo. We got beef and added chicken to it. The beef was solid. Chicken had good flavor but was a tiny bit dry. The sausage was great and the adobo shrimp was good too. The rice is more tex-mex style( it was fine). The charro beans though. One of the best things for the whole meal. We also added in the shrimp brochette. Also delicious, hard to go wrong with bacon wrapped shrimp. The corn tortillas were ok. The flour were really good. Both house made. We also got the Ensanada combo, the fish taco was great, the campecchana was great too. The shrimp enchilada was fine, definitely add lime juice to it to spruce it up. We got the refried beans with this dish and they were good. Definitely get the charro beans though. The chicharon was a nice surprise, the lightest I have ever had. Overall we really enjoyed the dinner and will definitely be back."
