"We have been eating at Hickory Barn for 40+ years, mostly to go orders. Today I got a sliced beef plate with okra and potato salad, they have always had the best sides. The brisket was lean, but had no seasoning on it. I mean none. The other edge of the brisket had no bark/crust that usually consists of seasoning and the outer crust of the meat. Strange, I have never had brisket that did not have any seasoned bark in the outside. The brisket had no flavor at all. The okra was under cooked. Thank heavens the potato salad hasn’t changed…..yet. Won’t spend $35 for this again."

"This place was good before, nowadays the portions of meat are smaller and the prices are higher especially in the portion of sausage that I always ordered today they charged me almost $9 dollars for this small amount and when I paid I was surprised by how much? What the girl charged me and I had to ask her what she was buying me? I thought he was wrong and in a bad mood he replied that it was $13 dlls. for the basket ribs and almost $9 dlls for a few slices of sausage"

"I'm not sure how this place received a 4.2. This place is horrible. Maybe we came in too late but the service was horrible, did not feel welcomed. The food was cold, I asked for french fries, the fries were not cooked and they were cold. Pulled pork sandwich was cold and no flavor. My kids ordered chicken and yes, it was cold. I would not recommend if you know good BBQ."

"Years ago It used to be a really great place. With quality home made food & flavor. Now the majority of the food is frozen then placed in the fryer basket to quick cook. I've been in Texas for years & I've never had a chicken fried steak that came to me square shaped and in two pieces....have any of you? No hand breaded fish like it used to be, no hand breaded chicken fried steak or okra. ALL pre bought and frozen . I won't waste your time or mine on the BBQ......it sucked as well. I was very disappointed in the quality of food & how unclean the restaurant was. They've really made this place go down. Don't waste your time or money. Paid $70 for two people. Way over priced for the quality of the food. Or should I say lack of quality of the food."
