"I stopped by from out-of-town when I discovered a drywall screw through my rental care tire. William sorted me out as fast as humanly possible and I was on my way. Great service! Give the man a raise!"
"Excellent customer service. The Pep Boys facility on Thousand Oaks Drive (San Antonio, Texas) completed the repairs I requested on my 2017 Dodge Durango in an expeditious, efficient & professional manner. They never attempted to up-sell any additional services & their work appears to have been done to standard. I recommend this facility to anyone in need of basic car repair services."
"November 21, 2023 I went to Pep Boys at 3102 Thousand Oaks in San Antonio to repair a too-lean fuel mixture indicated by "service-engine-soon" error code. The tech repair man and I acknowledged the need for some trial and error work. It took two different appoints and repairs to finally repair the car. The first one replaced the air intake manifold gasket. I took the car home only to find that this repair failed entirely. Nevertheless there was as $545.58 charge including a $99 inspection fee. I had no complaint so far, again understanding the need for trial and error methods. I returned on November 29, after Thanksgiving. The tech then performed a fuel pressure test that was not done the first time. Why not, I don't know. That test could have saved me the $545.58 spent the first time. Still I was happy enough with the service while realizing the need for trial and error when it comes to some car repairs. My complaint was due to what I see as a deceptive advertising practice and bad customer service by Pep Boys. After the first failed service, I received an email asking how my service experience was. At the top of the email it offered a 15% discount. When I returned for the second service I asked the nice service writer William if I could apply that 15% to the second service attempt for which I was returning the car on November 19. I was standing at the counter talking with William as I checked the car in for second service. William said he'd be able to get me at least a 10% discount either way and he'd check with his manager Zakarias Zuniga. They kept the car overnight. I picked up the car the next day, November 30 and paid $566.39 bill with William. (In both cases I brought my own parts.) As soon as I got home I saw there was no discount William and I had discussed applied to the bill I had just paid. I called William to ask if they could simply rewrite the bill to include the promised 10% discount. He said no. The company policy was that "you have to request the discount at the time of checkout." He said he'd request an exception from Mr. Zuniga. I wrote an explanatory note to give to Mr. Zuniga and drove back to Pep Boys immediately and gave it to William to pass along to Mr. Zuniga. William called me back within an hour to tell me that Mr. Zuniga declined to offer me the discount assured by William. I have no way of knowing whether my explanatory note was passed along to Mr. Zuniga or not. As a long time repeat customer of Pep Boys, and considering the $545.48 charge for the first repair attempt that failed, (I never complained about that,) and that I was promised the advertised discount as assured by William the service writer, I feel that good customer service fell by the wayside in this particular circumstance while the company thumped on their policy manual."
"I had a completely flat tire on a Sunday at 4:45 and needed to get it dealt with. I looked up their hours and they showed to close at 5. I assumed a respectable business would help me out. Nope. They told me they were closed and couldn’t help me. I ended up calling the Pep Boys on Nacogdoches Rd and Alan said he could help me out. Went over there and got it taken care of for me. Do not recommend this location if you can avoid it. I would have bought all 4 tires if they had upsold me too, but they didn’t even try. Asked me if I was able to put a spare on the car….. Really disappointed with the experience. I now know I can’t count on this location when I’m in a pinch."
"Great service! Was charged exactly what we were quoted and we didn't have to wait very long to get the battery changed out. Professional pleasant staff. Good job fellas!"
