"Crunchy chicken tacos were so juicy; very great! The rice and beans were a bit disappointing. Great price for the plate."
"Having driven past the building many times, It wasn't until I was there and parked, that I became aware that the entrance was on the neighborhood street side, and not the side facing Nogalitos. Following the many recommendations I had read online, I opted for "The Sleeper," a combination plate featuring 2 cheese enchiladas, a beef puffy taco, a chalupa, rice, and beans. My food arrived promptly, in less than 10 minutes from placing the order. The enchiladas, with nearly fully melted cheese, were generously smothered in a meaty chili. While the cheese enchiladas had decent flavor, I wasn't overly fond of the chili, which seemed akin to a beanless campfire chili with extra chili powder. The puffy taco, unfortunately, lacked the desired crispiness, with only a slight crunch at the very edge. The flavor reminded me of puffy tacos from the old Taco Hut, but even those were crispier. Adding some green salsa and salt brought these tacos to life, but still left me longing for a crisper shell. The beans were satisfactory, but the rice had a unique flavor profile. Although I couldn't pinpoint the taste, it seemed to be a tart & sweet spice, possibly tamarind. The rice wasn't bad, but definitely different. My entire meal with a canned soda was $12, an affordable meal, with a decently sized portions."
"Flavor: A Service: B Tea: A Solo Dining: A We found this gem just as our office is about to move. The enchiladas are great but I actually think I like the fish more. The tartar sauce is good and the fish is crispy, hot, and fresh. Three large pieces of fish with fries for $9.50. You can’t beat that. I also want to try the chicken sometime. No matter what you’re feeling this hole-in-the-wall can fill you up."
"What can I say...this is old school goodness... the food is on point .. and the rice was so fluffy and delicious.. They have great lunch specials..chicken fried steak and more.. the staff were fast and very nice.. We will be back thank you Oscar taco house!!"
"Stopped in after a baseball game the other night. Place was busy late at night. Minimal parking, so take that into consideration. Service was pretty slow and I think the girl was relatively new who was serving us. When asking questions about the menu, she said “I’ve never had it”. I’m kind of concerned about the wait staff not eating the food they serve. Ordered a variety of enchilada meals and the #1. The prices are great, but the food just isn’t. I would not come back again. With all the Mexican food restaurants out there, there are many more to try. Rice and beans were bland and I didn’t care for the enchilada gravy. Chips and salsa are extra $$ Still on a mission to eat some decent Mexican food in this city."
